Intermittent but frequent crash coming out of standby

I appreciate your help, but I don't think these are my only options. I think reinstalling the OS is an extreme reaction to a problem that is clearly associated with standby and nothing else. I just changed my power options to hibernate rather than standby. We'll see if that makes any difference. I'll also start Googling "Windows standby crash" again. That's how I got to your site. Thanks again for your efforts.

Understand where you are coming from. Let's check the drivers for your IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers: Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Device Manager -> upload a screenshot.

The above is for the difficulties you are having for the hard disk.


As for the standby problem; I do not think these are related. It would be nice to get more recent data from a blue screen crash...

With the data available, do your best to update the following drivers:

There is only ONE problem with my computer! It fails to come out of standby! There is NO problem with the hard disk that does not surface directly out of standby. The computer has NEVER crashed except out of standby!

I think so too. Apologize for the frustration. I'll leave you to figure it out yourself since you are uncomfortable with driver updates (which usually solve these types of problems). Good luck!
