Having a really bloody annoying problem where I have to restart my PC every time I plug in something to a USB port, even if I've had the device in use for years.
The devices don't get recognised or found by my PC unless I restart.
How do I stop this from happening!??!?! it's so annoying!!!

Just kidding. Actually what it desperately needs is a fresh Windows installation. To make sure you don't loose any 3rd party applications try the repair option first - start the installation from Windows itself to get the repair option.
If you really desperately need to keep Windows as it is, then you can try inserting it's installation disk and in the "run" menu from the start menu use the "sfc /scannow" command. You must type it exactly this way for it to work, and it may take as much as 30 minutes depending on the state of your Windows and pc performance.
