Wireless adapter needs resetting when I plug in a USB device

Hi. Often, not always, when I plug in a USB device to one of the external USB ports on my desktop, my (already plugged in, and working) USB wireless adapter stops working. I lose my wireless Internet connection, and I have to reset it - either manually by unplugging it and re-inserting it, or via Windows' troubleshooting wizard. Is there either a way to stop this from happening completely (preferred, of course), or is there at least a quicker way of resetting it - like a quick program on the desktop I can run - I can even code it in Visual Studio (2013) if needed). I'm assuming that the USB ports are somehow shared and conflicting? FWIW, I have 6 USB ports on the back of the machine, plus a single one on the front access panel. Win 7 Ultimate x86, 3 Gig, no errors/conflicts under Device Manager\USB controllers. Any help is appreciated. Further info upon request....

Hello JDGiants. Welcome to the forum.

Does this behavior happen no matter what port you plug the USB stick into? Even the one on the front access panel?

If this were a power problem then it would make sense that it occurs when two or more devices are drawing power from one USB controller on the motherboard.
USB2.0 can have up to 4 ports on one controller, so I'm guessing that at least 2 ports in the back are on a separate controller. By trying the wireless device in all the different ports you may be able to come up with a pattern.

You might also try experimenting with the keyboard and mouse disconnected. Report back what you find.
