Asus K42JC had Intel (R) HD Graphics and Nvidia 310M

Hello guys, I'm kinda new here and I need help. Okay, I have a Asus K42JC Laptop and has two VGA Graphics Adapter (Intel (R) HD Graphics and Nvidia 310M). There was a conflict between the two, actually Intel(R)HDG is currently installed, but when I try to install the Nvidia, my desktop freezes. But when I try to install Nvidia 310M first, It says that there is no Intel (R) HD Graphics Driver installed. But when I try Nvidia 310M alone (Intel (R) Graphics disabled), my laptop looks awful i mean like it has no graphics driver installed. Please help me and sorry for my bad english

Are you trying to install the nVidia drivers from a download directly from the nVidia website?

Some of the earlier versions of dual graphics laptops using the Core i Series processors required a combined graphics driver. You had to download this driver package directly from the OEM website for your exact laptop. The nVidia driver for the graphics chip in the laptop would not install alone, only in that package.

I've installed W7 on newer Asus laptops and this is no longer the case. I think they learned and adapted. They now offer the drivers seperately, but even still I continue to install only the nVidia driver offered by Asus. If it were my laptop I might experiment, but these are for other people so I'm just going for fast and easy.

Check to see if the K42JC has a combined package download from Asus.

ASUS K42jc Nvidia 310m Problem

I had the same problem with my nvidia 310m. The Graphic driver installed in my laptop was Intel (R) HD Graphic and I did the same, I installed nvidia driver but my screen freezes. I really don't know what to do. 'coz in my device manager Standard VGA graphics is not working properly.

The Intel graphics is actually built in to the processor (Core i3-i5-i7) and you must install the Intel Driver first.
The 310m chip is always secondary graphics so you must install the nVidia driver after.

If you are updating a driver it is a good idea, and sometimes necessary, to do a clean install (of the drivers).
This is accomplished by

• Uninstalling all graphics programs from the Programs list in Control Panel - uninstalling the driver last.
• Delete or move any folders with the nVidia drivers.
• Then restart.
• When Windows restarts it will install it's own driver. You will be asked to restart again. Do it.
• When you get back to the desktop you can then install the Intel Driver > restart
• When you get back to the desktop you can then install the nVidia Driver

If your troubles started when you installed a newer driver, then only install the older driver.
