I can play YouTube videos OK using Firefox, but here is a link that won't play on my laptop: http://ourworldtoday.zxq.net/shows/owt081312.html. It was suggested that I make sure Flash Player is installed, so I installed Flash Player but nothing changed.

When I click the little arrow button to start the video it disappears. The only thing left on the window is a button that says [backup], but the page it backs up to doesn't exist. The video plays on my XP desktop PC in Firefox but not on my W7 Dell Studio 15 laptop in Firefox.

Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit, service pack 1, Dell Studio 15 laptop.

An interesting mystery!

Using PaleMoonx64 with current Flash and no video either.

How could XP find the video?

I did more testing and found this:

With Firefox, W7 does not find the video but IE plays it.

IE can play the video on both W7 and XP.

Here are some similarities and differences:

The XP system that reads the video:
Shockwave Flash plugin 11.3.300.271
Flashblock extension 1.5.15.1
Noscript 2.5.1
The windows 7 system that doesn't read the video:
Shockwave Flash plugin 11.4.402.265
Flashblock extension 1.5.15.1
Noscript 2.5.1

Does both firefox (the XP one and the Win 7 one) have the same identical addons/plugins?

Some may interfer due to bugs and some were designed to outright block such content from unknown sources (like say NoScript or Flash Block or Adblock that very rarely misfires and blocks actual content as well).

EDIT: I see you have noscript, you sure the one on Win 7 isn't blocking some needed content?

Was discarded by previous owner due to "horrible performance".
Was running Win Xp from a IDE drive. Yeah. Was a pain.
SATA II drive and Win7 and it zips away! Yay!

Shockwave Flash plugin 11.4.402.265

Noscript 2.5.1

I do not have Flashblock extension but do have the other 2 and I can view that video, check Noscript it may be blocking something.

In addition to Flash and NoScript, I also use RequestPolicy.

I changed a temporary setting in RequestPolicy for BlipTV (which was blocked) and the video initialized, 308MB to be played.

To be fair, NoScript was updated to 2.5.2 several minutes before the attempt and then the tweak.

1) I updated NoScript to v2.5.2. That didn't help.

2) My Firefox has BlipTV list as allowed. But next I will install RequestPolicy.

I installed RequestPolicy. I added BlipTV.com to the white list, And I selected "permit all" but it still didn't work.

I reinstalled Flash player back to 11.4.402.265 since the earlier version didn't solve the problem. I still couldn't read the video.

I created a new profile and called it videos. I installed Flash Player. The results are the same. On the window that opens at http://ourworldtoday.zxq.net/shows/owt081312.html there is no play button in the middle of the screen and the backup button opens to to 404.

When I open the Add-in area, there are 3 disabled extensions, and 15 active plugins, including Shockwave Flash 11.4.402.265.
