In my windows XP I have this path C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temp
I need this excact path for installing a prg, and I can't seem to find it in Windows 7, so where do I look for it or is it possible to make it myself?

So true. Just surious why the OP would want to install an app in %tmp%, cuase the next time he does a disk cleanup with a 3rd party app its bye bye app
yeah it's strange - maybe it's a very temporary app
although he doesn't actually say he wants to install it there, he needs to know it...so maybe the installer has extracted files there or something? i dunno...
WOW, That was fast I got the answer to my question, thanks. I'm sorry that my english is not the best so I understand why you misunderstood me The programme needs to make a couple of sub dir's and when the prg. is installed it erases them again, but it needs the path for the install. And Mickey you're absolutely right, it extracts the files to the two temp files and then erases them afterwards.
Or could it be he's just really carefully reading the instructions: "To install extract these files to C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temp"

one of the first things that i do when i install a new windows os, is to change the locations where windows stores its temporary files.
control panel >> system and security >> system >> advanced system settings >> environment labels >> change both TMP and TEMP variables.
i change both of these to c:\windows\temp. i then put a shortcut to that folder in my explorer favourites, so it's easy to find.
as part of my regular maintenance routine, after a fresh reboot, i visit the folder, press Ctrl-A to select all files, delete them, and then empty the recycling bin (i also have a shortcut to this in my faves). this is particularly recommended before defragging.
lots of programs and installers dump files here, but forget to delete them. the files are perfectly safe to delete, after rebooting.
hmm, maybe i should make this into a tutorial, i guess not many people will find this here...
