Random BSOD have no idea what is causing it

I am what I would consider a intermediate computer user I have been trying to figure out what has been causing my computer to BSOD for the past 4 -6 months I fixed it at some point I'm not sure how but I installed a windows 8 preview to check it out and when I reinstalled windows 7 again it started to BSOD once again any help would be great

I suspect hardware may be the cause of these BSODs. Given the system's inability to write a crash dump and corrupted registry, I'd suspect RAM.

Thanks I'm about to run a memtest but I have run it and I have been experiencing long periods of BSODs and I have replaced the RAM since my computer started BSODind about 6 months ago but I will test I'm gonna run it all night

I have been running memtest for around 3 hours now and have gotten no errors but im going to continue running it for the rest of the night

I ran memtest for around 14 hours not a single error I just realized that my videocard may be loose so I am going to reseat it if you need any more information please let me know I really want to have my computer i proper condition again

Try running Memtest86 again, this time from a cold boot. Leave the computer off for some time (overnight perhaps) and then immediately boot to Memtest in the morning. You might also check for a BIOS update.

I have been told before that my ram is not compatible with my processor I sold my old ram for like $10 although I might be able to get it back would it be worth me getting it back could that possibly fix my problems

What motherboard do you have? If you get RAM that is on the motherboard manufacturer's CVL, it's your safest bet. You might also try down-clocking your RAM to 1333 MHz.

I have the G.skill Ripjaw I just found out that it takes a lower voltage than my old ram so I downed the voltage to the recomended setting from 1.65 to 1.5 but I'm still crashing I'll try the underclocking

I'm still having frequent crashes although less often I pulled one stick of ram and started noticing far less frequent crashes and also could a corrupt partition table cause problems I'm guessing it could so I'm backing up all my important data and am gonna try a full format and reinstall
