Hello, I'm currently in safe mode in my windows 7 laptop which i can only access this computer by. The reason is because when i try to boot windows regularly, i get past the login screen then to be pwned by some black screen with my cursor only displaying.

What i think it's from?

I downloaded a software from IOBit called Advanced system care, then i ran a full system clean. I came back later to reset my laptop and encountered an update, i let it update. When the update was finished, i started getting the Black screen of death.

Things i tried:

- System restore (It couldn't find a restore due to the update)
- Uninstalling updates (No difference was made)
- The CTRL+ALT+DEL then some link for the fix (CTRL+ALT+DEL doesn't work)
- Start up repair (Nope, no difference)
- The /sfc command (It worked but, still no difference)

I'm think pretty much stuck as i don't have a Windows 7 CD, although i have a formatted USB, i'm considering downgrading to XP. But, i'm getting problems with that aswell.

All help will be appreciated :D!

my first suggestion just to see if we can get you booting is to open msconfig
(just type it in the search box in the start bar)
go to the startup tab, and untick everything there.
Reboot normally and see if you load.
Hopefully it's a startup application.
If this works you can slowly retick the items in msconfig under the startup tab until you find the program actually causing the problem.

Hi Rakki Welcome to Seven Forums.
To help us help you would you please add your systems specs? Here's how: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html#post1530002
Under System Manufacturer/Model Number add whether it is a desktop or laptop and whether self built.

yeah that's the main reason I was hoping it was a startup item I know a large number of things will not uninstall/run properly from safe mode. Sadly there goes the easy fix.
system restore was the other easy fix, but apparently that already failed.
this could possibly be useful, you should have restore points in there somewhere. Unless you've been using some registry or file cleaning app in which case. Yeah, this is why I never recommend those things.

My answer is simple and bias. If you see IOBit you are asking for problems.
Remove Advanced System Care. Hopefully you haven't use it yet.
Then run sfc /scannow again. Just installing ASC and not using it can cause lots of problems. Typically Tune Up, make my computer cleaner, meaner, smarter, faster programs are not needed or wanted by Windows 7.

I like Greg's idea better, a perfect Clean Reinstall. Then don't put Advance System Care on the computer.

I have the same problem with iobit systemcare. it fixed 2 bsods i had, but after i installed windows updates I am stuck in an infinite startup repair loop with seemingly no way out. I currently have a thread open but I will be checking in on this to see if I might be able to find a cure to my issue.

Hi
Please excuse my limited knowledge on this but ive just been reading with interest on the procedure to perform a "clean reinstall"..I presume that is the OS.?
My situation is this.i bought a toshiba laptop about 6 months ago and windows 7 was preinstalled on the laptop and ready to use as is.Now recently ive had to delete the D (recovery)partition on this laptop and thus i now cannot perform a factory reinstallation of windows.
If i download the windows 7 image iso as described will i be able to reinstall a factory windows 7.????
Im getting confused about all of this.
Please can you help me with this as i dont completely understand this.
Thanks.

ok, i downgraded to windows vista like a retard, when i thought i put windows 7 bootable to re-install on my comp. now im stuck with windows vista.
A new problem has struck! My computer is now freezing with crackling sounds for some reason it'll play for like 10 minutes then freeze!

Could it be my Ram? Cpu? I know it can't be the OS because on boot it has a black screen happens before my OS loads(sometimes), like at the boot-up screen to show what kinda laptop you have. (E.G. gateway logo)

I'll be getting back to windows 7 soon.

You are not stuck with Vista. If WIn7 came on your PC then you are entitled to Clean Reinstall it with the Product key on COA sticker. All of the steps and the latest installer are in the tutorial. Will you read it?

To rule out the OS, wipe the HD first before reinstalling using Diskpart Clean Command from the installer's Command Line accessed by pressing Shift + F10 at first screen after booting into installer.

If the probs persist work through the hardware tests in Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

What are the results of the hardware tests suggested which are booted from CD?

Dig in to get the work done or ask back how to do it. This requires utter thoroughness.
