Random BSODs hal.dll+12a3b, ntoskrnl.exe+18cb03

Spex:
Toshiba Satellite L510 Laptop.
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1. (Fresh install, no updates whatsoever.)
Intel Core2Duo P7450. (1hour Prime95 DONE)
6GB RAM (4GB+2GB different speeds, 2hour MEMTEST DONE)
ATI Radeon Mobility HD 4500 series. (1hour Prime95 DONE)
WD Caviar 500GB HDD. (Fresh format, chkdsk R DONE, "HDD Scan" DONE)
Tried reseating RAM, HDD, DVD.

Other checks:
SFC no problems.
dxdiag shows no issues.
have turned on VERIFIER.EXE and selected all non MS (and some MS as well) drivers to monitor.

Software:
Google Chrome.
No AV or Firewall, Windows' Firewall disabled.
Tried with full drivers installed, full Windows Updates. Same results. Now reformatted with fresh install with no updates whatsoever and no drivers isntalled. Same results. Tried a different source CD for Win7 installation. Same results.

Problem Description:
Random BSODs showing 0x124 (mostly), IRQL, 0x1E, 0x0A... hal.dll, ntoskrnl...
Occurs randomly and very frequently. Half of the time can't even load into desktop.
Prime95, when it runs, shows no errors, but half of the time when trying to RUN the workers, it (the program) crashes, WITHOUT giving a BSOD or a freeze etc.

In my 2 weeks of trying to debug this laptop there have been moments when it runs fine and I was able to play some games (notably) World of Tanks, Pirates of the Burning Seas, to test and ran beautifully.

Please help me solve this issue, I truly want to learn how to, thanks.

Attached is the zip files from SF Diags.

oh and to be sure, let me remark that i have done zero overclocking.
tried with just one stick of RAM (both).
unplugged all USB.
unplugged power and ran on purely battery.
thanks.

Update:

I've resorted to booting into Safe Mode with networking and hacking the registry (online tutorial) to enable sound and have been using this laptop like this eversince, listening to music, browsing youtube and surfing in general and it hasn't crashed a single time.

bear in mind that verifier is still running.

this is so depressing. :( i really do hope i can get help to solve what really is bugging this laptop.

Like I've mentioned, I have tried with full drivers' updates, including those that you have pointed out, and I get the same random BSODs.

Maybe I should still update those two for guided troubleshooting's sake?

Thanks.

Well, when I checked the files that you uploaded the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500 had the default windows driver which is (Microsoft Corporation WDDM 1.1) This needs updating!!

The Realtek RTL8102E/RTL8103E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC Driver was dated (6/11/2009) This also needs updating!!

So unless you have updated them since posting your files they don't need updating!!

Might want to post some new files for us.

Thanks

Hi,

The problem with Toshiba Satellite L510, and a host of other Toshiba laptops is that we are unable to update our drivers unless specifically provided for by Toshiba themselves on their websites, so after further checks for updated drivers and even alternative drivers such as OMEGA and DNA (their latest ones only go up to Vista ones), it still says I have the latest version installed.

I even downloaded Catalyst suite 12.8 and it will not install anything on and reports that I have the latest version installed.

I did update the Realtek RTL8102E/RTL8103E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC Driver.

Same problems.

Hi,

I decided to try something new today.

I booted into Safe Mode again, and disabled as much hardware, including the touchpad, bluetooth (which shows up as unknown since i havent installed any drivers for it yet), HD Audio, High Definition Audio Controller, USB2.0 camera, PCIe Family Controller (I kept the wireless enabled) and finally, the Radeon HD4500 series itself.

I restarted the machine in normal mode, and sure enough, the BSODs were happening again, with 0x124 errors.

Does this mean that it is probably NOT a hardware issue?

The last thing I havent' done is a 6 hour memtest (I only did 2 hours).

Should I start switching off services one by one now to see if any of the services are causing conflicts?

thanks..

Hi, more updates. I'm not gonna give up on this little laptop.

I disassembled the entire laptop, cleaned off the old paste off of the processor and the GPU with 90% alcohol (there was none on the southbridge/northbridge? there was instead a blutack kinda rubbery material on that one.), reseated the CPU, and reapplied Xigmatek Freezing Point paste on it ( just a tiny watermelon-seed sized amount of paste ).

booted it up and it RAN LIKE A DREAM.

Ran Prim95, WITH a movie running in the foreground WHILE downloading something and ALSO updating WorldOfTanks for moer than an HOUR. NO PROBLEMS. Played World of Tanks, DC Universe Online and Age of Conan for two or more days NO PROBLEMS.

Finally, I shut off the laptop. Went for a 3 day holiday, came back, and it's just as bad as before. BSODs ALL OVER. Now I can't even boot into windows7. Works well enough in Safe Mode though, which I am in right now.

Tried reseating the CPU, reapplying new thermal paste: NO GOOD.

Please someone, help me!!!!!!

EDIT: Oh yeah, mostly x124s. Tried swapping HDDs and memory; no go.

Around/ over 2 years old. Plus I'm in a tropical country so ambient temperatures can get pretty high, like 32c maybe 35c. hwmonitor reports that during gaming (which I do a lot of) tops out at 85c+ .

i wouldve thought that the hardware wouldve been fried or something but those 2 days of gaming, you would've sworn it was a brand new rig, you know what i mean? its so weird how it went back to being a depressed laptop only after i switched it off.

update:

now i cant even get the win7 installation to run off the usb stick; as the windows logo is forming up, it will stop0x124 right when its about to load the uhm.... choose language screen.

i made sure that i applied just a tiny amount of thermal paste so that it wouldnt run off onto the sides and make contact with any other metal parts.

it cant be the processor right? otherwise i wouldnt even be able to run anything in safe mode?

Edit: 3x instances of IRQL_NOT_LESS... and 1x instance of PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED... now.
Edit: finally managed to find a slightly more updated version of the gpu drivers... was 2009, now at 2010 version.

oh i hadnt updated BIOS as well. ill be on my way then.

Hmm yup. Go ahead with the BIOS update.

BTW, is the computer under its warranty?
Do you have a spare computer where you can switch parts with to
find out which part of the hardware exactly is causing these problems..?

nah definitely out of warranty.
ive switched RAM and HDD. other parts are non switchable.
BIOS had been updated all along to 1.50 since a few weeks ago, i just forgot.

now my laptop is powering off and restarting intermittently. no BSODs. of course, there are still BSODs as well.

To help us help you would you please add your systems specs? Here's how: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html#post1530002
Under System Manufacturer/Model Number add whether it is a desktop or laptop and whether self built.

Log in to Seven Forums and you will be able to transfer the info directly to the specs page in your profile from within the System Info app.
After doing this your specs will be available in each of your posts. Click on mine in the lower left to see how it should look.:)
Full instructions in the tutorial.

0x124 is a hardware fault of some kind and difficult to pinpoint.
To run memtest properly each RAM need to be tested in each slot for a minimum of 7 passes, then both for 7 passes.

Windows often reports drivers up-to-date even if they are not. Check the Toshiba site to see if there are newer graphics, sound, and chipset drivers available.

Is the 1.50 BIOS the latest they have?

Run a HDD test for what ever brand yours is with one from here:
