I use email to stay in contact with friends and I don't use any "Connect" features.

Also I HATE it if you are in a restaurant and you see mobile phones visible on tables etc.

If you are out with people surely even the site of a moble is enough to make you think "The other person's mind is not 100% with ine group he / she is with" -- they are still thinking about "Virtual friends" on Farcebook or twats on twitter etc etc).

Some of these services *just might* be valuable in News / evidence collecting / protection from an overbearing state using "State security" as a catch all reason for curtailing civil liberties but most of the time these type of services are just 100% pure bovine scatology.

Even Email is now getting to the point of being more a nuisance than a help any more.

Nah, they are professionals and need thousands of them a month to stay afloat. Their bots sending chain letters work faster than I ever could.

Dropbox asks emails and sends to these emails an invite to join dropbox, if the person accepted, I got more free space. Other things offer similar discounts for every "friend" you bring them.

Having a stockpile of emails is thus useful.

Jimbo I agree about seeing cell phones. The hard part is finding a person, over 10 years old, who doesn't have one. Crap, my 6 and 9 year old grandkids each have one, not due to my wishes though.

I've found Facebook and Twitter really useful for talking to people who I haven't seen for ages, or haven't got their phone number. I use Facebook to arrange things with friends and upload photos of friends and family, so it does have it's uses.
