Somehow I've been infected with "snapdo". I have read and followed every suggestion I could find on the internet to no avail. I can't actually find it anywhere to remove it. All the files that are to be removed aren't there either.

It's not there in "add/remove programs", it's not there in "plugins", it's not anywhere!

Snapdo only shows up when I open a new tab, not on the first home page.

Please, can anyone help!!!

Thanks in advance,
Alison

PS. I'm running Windows 7 and using Chrome

Hi,

Thankyou very much for your help. I hadn't tried that and it worked straight away!

5 minutes to solve thanks to you, after a whole evening banging my head against the screen!

:)

Cheers,
Alison

Even though problem is solved, I still have a question about AdwCleaner. I had the SnapOn problem and deleted as much as I could. Then when using AdwCleaner I found references to SnapOn in the registry. I highlighted those refs and Deleted and then Save. Did I do it right?

Yes , you did it right .
Actually AdwCleaner is a adware cleaner that deletes adware, PUP (Potentially Unwanted Programs), toolbars and homepage hijackers(sort of search engine being modified) :sarc:

It presents you with 3 main buttons which is Search, Delete and Uninstall. The Search button will look for any known adware by AdwCleaner and displays the log file after finished searching. By default the log file is saved to C:\ drive and you can investigate the detected services, files, folders, registry, and web browsers that contains entries of adware. Now you can click the Delete button to start removing the found traces of adware.

That's all. :)

No, I don't think I did it right as when I run AdwCleaner again, the same SnapOn registry keys appeared again in notepad. My problem maybe just how does one delete unwanted item(s) from the log file. Is it just one massive deletion, or can one delete only the files one wants to delete?

After deleting on reboot, AdwCleaner will display a log showing the files, folders, and registry entries that were removed.
So,the log you have seen on the notepad was the files and registry entries that were removed.

Hope this clears . :)

Well, I went ahead an selected Delete, brave me. But before I did, I first Optioned to protect Firefox, my browser, as I didn't want to loose my prefs. Didn't care about IE9 as I don't use it. So far, after a few hours of on and off use, all seems to be functioning well. Niffty little program...
