Hello,

I wanted to check for updates for my wifi card, and i went to the intel driver website.
Downloaded and installed the newest driver.

And some thing happened:

My card name was : Intel Wifi Link 1000BGN
After the driver, it changed to : Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000

In inSSIDer: before the driver update i had a max rate of 64
after the update, it becomes 156

Are all thoses things normal?

Looks normal to me, the name change is just a different name for the updated version of the driver.

I assume you are talking about the wireless speed with those numbers?

156 is very good but 300Mbps is possible with the right settings and very strong signal strength. ;)

That can be tricky and requires a strong 5 bar connection plus a few clear channels so that channel bonding can work as it should.

You also need to use the 802.11n Only setting in your router, using the mixed settings...like wireless G or below won't give you best speeds, and G or below clients will not be able to connect when using the N Only setting. You also need to use WPA2 security with AES encryption.

To use channel bonding there should be a setting in your router "20-40Mhz" setting or 20Mhz, the 20-40Mhz is channel bonding mode.

Then you need to use Xirrus software to explore the wireless landscape in your area to find a few clear channels. Some experimenting here with different chanels is required.
