Intel GMA 4500MHD Crashing Randomly

Mmm seem to be a magnet for problems lately.. Starting to get annoying actually.

Anyways.. whenever I play a game called 'RuneScape' my graphics randomly crashes, its a CPU Intensive game but not graphic intensive. If it helps I have all my drivers up-to-date, and here is the stuff 'View Reliability History' gave me for information.

im also using intel 4500mhd and it can run MUCH better games.... so i dont know wat happened with ur drivers. Maybe the drivers are corrupted?
since windows 7 is still in beta mode, I suppose when you installed it, that you would expect to do the custom installation many times over
I would download windows 7 build 7600 (rtm build) from torrents and completely reinstall windows.Reinstall the driver and everything.
Another possibility is that you can download the driver directy from intel.com and replace your current driver. Windows update can be buggy sometimes....

I have been using Windows 7 RC (build 7100, x64) and this is about my.. 8th reinstall. I got the drivers directly from Intel's website. It only does this when I play a java/browser-based game called RuneScape.

use the ie 8 compatibility tab feature, cuz runescape takes MINIMAL resources compared to some other games lol
otherwise, you can also restore ie , srry i really have no good ideas =confused:

Well that'd be fine and dandy, if I used IE.

It does it with Firefox (3.5.1/3.5.2) and Chrome (3.0.197 Dev Build), haven't tested it on other browsers because its so random, I'd be waiting forever. lol

the best thing i can advise is try different versions of drivers (that includes the vista and 7 ones, i should better say to try both wddm 1.0 and wddm 1.1) and see which one of these latest drivers dont cause a problem...
sometimes new = bugs (just look at ati and nvidia for a example...)...

I'm thinking its a Windows 7 specific problem, never did it in ... I hate to say it, Vista.. I've tried other drivers too, it didn't help much. I crashed more with older ones actually.

While yes, this is a Win 7 issue. It is not a specific Win 7 issue. It is a driver issue with Win 7. They (Being Intel) have not fixed the issue. And it is quite friggin annoying.

I get the problem when I reboot my laptop. Seems to be fine most of the time when I just shutdown and start up again.

I have the Intel Graphics Media HD (Core i5) and it's the same file

X64_0x117_Tdr:2_IMAGE_igdkmd64.sys

It's a driver issue,, and most of the time,, when it crashes,, it mentions something about XP.
I think they took existing XP drivers and just tweaked them slightly and said "here, they work!" but, kthey work half assed.

You may want to look at the date a post was last made. This thread is ancient, no longer even have the laptop that had this problem.
