Solved Upgrading processor from intel pentium dual core t2310 1.46 GHz...

I am trying to figure out what processor is compatible with my motherboard in my HP Pavilion dv6628us notebook. I've read the manual and looked on HP's PartSurfer. PartSurfer listed a number of them from 1.46 GHz to 2.4 GHz. I purchased an intel duo processor 2.4GHz that did not work. Now I'm trying to figure out if that processor wasn't compatible or if it is just faulty. If it is not faulty or compatible, I need to know what is compatiable so I can purchase it tonight and have it shipped by Wednesday because I am going through serious withdrawals without my computer. Help me please.

I updated my computer from vista to windows 7. Hp didn't have updates available for Windows 7 on the support page for my laptop so I had to install the one they had for Vista. Should I have updated my BIOS from a laptop's support page that had an update for Windows 7 such as this one below:

I have a questions. Do all the specs have to match on the processor? For example, will I have to buy a processor that only supports 1mb (L2) if that's what the processor's cache is? I know you're able to go above the bus speed. If so, this could be resolved right now. Ha ha.

I did call them direct, but HP will not help you without being under warranty. That is one of the reasons I will never buy an HP anything again. Thanks for replying.

Wow, they won`t help you to get a new cpu, that`s insane. Did you tell them you wanted to buy a new cpu, did you talk to sales ? I would have demanded a manager.

It very well may have to be the same fsb. Yours is 533 MHz, correct ?

The cpu you bought is an 800 MHz, correct ?

You might find something for it on Ebay.

Oh, I did! I told them I wanted to speak to Hewlett. LOL Of course they told me that he wasn't in. Then the guy asked if I wanted to speak to his supervision, but the supervision wouldn't speak to me because I wasn't under warranty. They claim they cannot help you with a processor upgrade because it didn't come with the computer. They don't want to help you much at all if you aren't under warranty. The guy wouldn't even direct me to a self-help page.

Yes, that is the bus speed. I've been looking on Ebay. That's where I bought the first cpu. I thought it had something to do with the L2 and not the MHz.

Man, I think you are in for some hurt doing what you want to do--although surely someone can do it. Whether you can get to the level of performance you want, though, is a different issue. I don't want to downplay the expenditure of $ above and beyond what the upgrade you want to do would cost, but there are some good performing laptops, with modern features and compatibilities, out there at reasonable prices. Maybe you could even find one running Win7, not Win8.

Oh, I'm sorry! That link is telling me something else. Someone's claiming that I can upgrade to pentium 2.2 or 2.3 GHz because of the same 35 TDP as the T2310.

Show related & motherboard compatible CPUs. You'll want to stay in the same 35W TDP as the T2310 so that makes the logical replacement choices:
Pentium T4400 2.2Ghz
Pentium T4500 2.3Ghz

I could afford a new laptop, but I would rather spend that money on getting my teeth fixed and my face like a new born baby's ass. All I want is a processor fast enough to record my Youtube videos in HD without the lagging and stuff. Thank you for replying.

BTW, I've taken the computer apart a hundred times. I've swapped the processors like 4 times in total just to make sure the one I purchased wasn't faulty. So it's not that hard for me.
