I kinda painted myself into a corner again I picked up a ASUS crosshair IV in hopes of a general speed boost but I'm having odd random lag, its been about the same through 3 reinstalls. I was BSODing before I change my ramm and mobo(mostly due to the ram not liking the mobo)
Anyway long story short whats my best option getting a new AM3/DDr 3 2000(PC16000) mobo that is best for the ramm or trying to go to an 8 core AM3 ?
Sorry if this is off topic ><

Crossfire formula 4 and Phenom 2 X4 black AM3. I'll need fast but solid ramm for it.
If using
Crossfire formula 4 and 8GB(4X2) of Patriot Viper extreme 16000 I will need to up the CPU, but I do not think it will fix my random but very short bottleneck lag/lock up.
If using
8GB(4X2) of Patriot Viper extreme 16000 and Phenom 2 X4 black AM3 I will need a PC 1600 mobo for them.
I dunno whats cheap anymore >< whats left of my brains are fried.

Zippy, are you aware that RAM is not generally interchangeable across system platforms?
A motherboard is made to use only certain processors. That MB - CPU combination will only be able to use RAM that falls into a specific range of specifications.
A different MB-CPU combination may use an entirely different RAM spec.
You can't assume you can mix-and-match.
So what these gentlemen are looking for from you is the exact model numbers of the components of one setup or the other so they can check and see if you have a compatibility problem.

As far as I know Ramm is built with a few things in mind.
Spec range or format (SDRAM,DDR,DDR2,DDR3,RDRAM ,Rambus*dies laughing*) Which account for things like pin count and spec, voltage variations.
Density
if you want to go back to to the 486 and 586 days, did the 686 bring in DDR? I forget...to much dust and junk piles in my damn head LOL
. Awww no spoiler tags?
Specific motherboard and or CPU architecture(Intel and AMD and certain chip set tuned SUKs).(Seems my ramm likes intel......surprise mofoer ><....uhg rushing on cheap deals is never a good thing >>)
Speed(DDr2 200Mhz means 400Mhz in throughput which oddly tells you its class type IE PC 400,PC 800,PC 1066,ect,ect ) , which can be backwards compatible as long as pin and voltage are the same.
Did I miss anything??
---------------------------
Seems I did a booboo on zeee ramm.... I would like to get the fastest ramm for my mobo but ASUS did not have a great list when I checked it.
Checking it again now.........
