I saw onboard video chipset NONE so I assumed I had to add a video card.

Those video ports meant nothing to me.

The 965be Quad is a great chip as well, it's what I upgraded from to the 8 core FX and both overclocked like crazy with great cooling.

Typical discouragement !

Look it is just as simple to build AMD as it is Intel Cheaper by so much as well

If you are going to build AMD get a decent 990fx board that doesn't need to be super priced get one of the newer FX chips 6300 /8320 8gb ram decent gpu etc....you will be good to go

In the end when it comes to Gaming or common task there is no real big difference ,I know plenty of Intel rigs that AMD rigs would blow out the water so with that being said AMD will not disapoint you and this is not a sales pitch lol

Intel is not the PC savior, I don't know why people are always trying to push that bag :rolleyes:

If you do go for AM3+ look at the 970 based boards if only going to use a single card, if SLI/Crossfire is a consideration look at the 990 based boards. For the most part that is the only real difference between the two,

and can save a few $$. As for which manufacturer, comes down to price and whatever other features may be available.

yeah the 6300 is abeast of a chip, the sweetspot between i5 and i3, better than all i3s (not singethterad) and not as good as i5

They are not bad combos, but try and avoid anything with the older 760/710 chipsets on them unless you only want SATA 2 and USB2, unless the manufacturer has slapped a 3rd party chip on it as the SB710 doesn't support either.
