Change Background Colour of Start menu

Hey,

ive got one simple Question, i was watching for a solution, but couldnt find any helpfully to solve my request.

I want to change the Color of the start menu or set an picture in it. For Vista you could change this in a file buy using hexeditor ( gosh dont know the exact instruction to do this). In Windows 7 it seems that MS changed this. Is there somebody who has tryed to change this?

I will send a picture too, so you can see and understand what im talking about. I know my english is bad ( sry for this)

Do you mean the windows 7 start (spinning colors) or the log-on screen?

Yes Sassa, i mean only the start menu ( the white background ) In the Picture i uploaded you can see this. What do you mean with " he cant do this anymore..."? For now i just changed the Color of the Taskbar.

If you change Windows color scheme, start menu color is changed too, and you already knew that...
I understand that you want to create custom color for your start menu recent programs pane only...
Is that it???

You can not change the background color of the recent programs list (the left side of your start menu) without using third party applications. I've seen it done with WindowBlinds.

Ok, seems that windowsblind isnt working on Win7 for now.But buying a programm just for a picture in the start menu isnt the best way, i think...
So no picture for the startmenu =)

ther is a way to do it

i am currently running 2 different versions of win 7 and 1 has a totally differnt start menu (no white vista style backround ) i dont know how to change it (yet give me a while ) but it seems it is totaly possible. Im working on it now i will post when i have the answer

thats to change the login screen (easy) its much harder to change the boot animation as win 7 does not accept that (they belive it to be a security issue) again im working on it and will post when ive got it sussed

I would have to think that this can be done with Restorator

There's no way to do it unless you install a theme with a transparent start menu. There are a few around but none to my liking. I want the default Aero theme with no changes except a transparent start menu is anyone is feeling like helping me out.

I dont know if this is any help to you, i tried it a while ago but found it wasnt for me or used it for long enough to see if it had any bugs.

Just another option for a much asked question. I am suprised that someone has not made a basic theme that just changes the start menu as there are so many requests for such a thing.
