Thats cold weather alright, It's been about 30 years since metric was introduced in Canada but at least I got to learn the old imperial system in the primary grades.

The US has somehow never managed to join the rest of the world in using the metric system.
-3F is the equivalent of -19C and although it can get much colder in these parts, that is cold enough for me!

It's not called anything. It just is There is our measurements, and the Metric system. We were told when I was in grade school we would be shifting to the Metric system. All we got was 2 liter soda bottles, some metric liquor bottles, and some X liter engine designations (my Trans Am famously had a 6.6 Liter engine, but we still referred to the 400 cubic inch displacement ). Thanks for that. I find it very interesting and a bit strange that the most advanced technological country in the world should still be using a non metric system. Perhaps "using" is the wrong term. "Thinking" in the old system would be more to the point! What about the younger generation? No offence A Guy but I don't think you could be described as being in the first flush of youth!

You know what you are taught. Since the US hasn't converted, we still learn inches, feet, yards, miles. I'm sure there may be some teaching of metric, but probably explained as used in other parts of the world. The "converting" is the thing. You can't just switch, you have to say a gallon = x liters (and it isn't full numbers), etc. I don't see it ever happening frankly
