Negative.

DDR3 is different physically from DDR2 - it would not plug into your motherboard.
If your motherboard is designed for DDR2 RAM then you must stick with DDR2.

It depends if your motherboard supports DDR3 memory. At the top of every Forum page is "User CP". Click on that and in the left column that opens, click on "Edit System Spec". A free tool that will show you what your computer has installed is Speccy.

Yes, you need to forget about using DDR3 RAM.

If you have any open RAM slots, and your motherboard does not have a RAM limit of 1GB (highly unlikely), you could add some DDR2 modules. You should have a minimum of 2GB to run W7, and 4GB is highly recommended.

Oh, and I forgot: Welcome to the forum!

If your system has DDR2 installed in it now, then you have your answer. It is designed for DDR2 and can only use DDR2.

The RAM specifications will be in your manual. If you don't have a manual then you can look up your PC specs from the manufacturer's website. It will list the RAM type there.
