Hi,

my PC

CPU AMD PhenomII X4 955
CPU Cooling Noctua C12P SE14
Mobo Gigabyte 890GX UD3H Bios Version FC
RAM Slot 1+2: 4GB Corsair PC3-10700H(667MHZ) CML8GX3M2A1600C9
Slot 3+4 2GB G Skill PC3-10700G(667MHZ) F3-12800CL9-2GBNQ
HDD Samsung HD103SJ
SSD Samsung SSD 930 240GB (Systemplatte)
NT be quiet Straight Power 580W ATX 2.3 (E7-CM-580W/BN122)
Graka ATI Sapphire 5770 Vapor-X
DVD-Brenner
OS Win 7 64bit Home Prem SB Edition

shows BSODs for months now and I am lost on what to do about it:

The BLuescreens mainly show when working on Videos (esp. Avidemux but also Magix Video Deluxe 2013 plus) and when working with Photoshop CS6. The errors might have occurred first time after changing to the SSD mentioned above (old SSD was too small). Except for that information, I do not see any "pattern" in the BSODs. Minidumps are regularly saved correctly but sometimes the system simply hangs and does not even show a bluescreen. If a minidump is written it might be corrupt. Full Memorydumps usually are incomplete and do not work with windbg64.

The things I already tried:

- Reinstalled Win7 (2x)
- Update Drivers (esp. Graphic card and USB)
- Test of RAM (the 2GB ones) via Memtest (several hours) and Windows
- replace Ram with the 4GB ones (after this did not resolve the issue I added the 2 GB ones just to make use of them without any additional problems (or improvements))
- removal of graphics card and use of onboard graphics

Currently I do not get any Buescreens. The system just hangs. Hence, verifier did not help me at all. When starting the ET6 from Gigabyte the Windows hangs (without bluescreen).

Any ideas what else I can try?

Thx

O.

- Prime95 (blended test) worked and increased the temp to about 52C

did not help.

As far i can see based on the BSOD and the logs.. most of the BSOD is caused by the drivers of Netgear WN111 wireless usb adapter.

Could you tell me which version of this adapter are you using..

If possible update the drivers or firmware. If you are using the v2 then go here

Also try using this adapter on USB 2.0 slot rather than USB 3.0 slot.

Also try using your Ethernet rather than this adapter for sometime. While you do this make sure you remove the associated software of Netgear as well.

Let me know

Thanks for the reply!

I am wondering what pointed you to the WN111 but, anyway, I am not using the WN111 and it is currently not plugged in. I removed the driver and ran Glary Utilities and CCleaner to update my registry. Then I started Avidemux as this is the most reliable way to provoke a crash:

- Windows restarts
- System Hangs
- Bluescreen without crash dump
- bluescreen with crash dump and reference to NTFS.Sys

Attached is an updated file from the Diagnostics Tools. The additional crashes prior to 12 am are prior to removing the WN111 drivers.

Any more ideas?

Thx
O.

that looks ok... but it would be nice if you use the softwares in English. Sorry i dont speak or read German.

Please rerun memtest for atleast 6 to 8 for each RAM stick at each RAM slot

Ok good...

Since most of your bsod or hangs happen when you run Avidemux or video related software ... lets now focus on the graphics card.

Now run this for Techpower to check the bios version of your GPU. Post a snapshot

The current bios version for your SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 is 1.0. Depending on what you see ... update it .

Once done ... update your graphics driver for Radeon HD 5770.. (which sapphire uses) to the latest 12.10 version.

Let me know .

hmm

Could you disable the devolo service ....One of your BSOD is caused due to this.. I presume this is part of the Dlan extender.

Once disabled let me know of any BSOD.. so we can move on to the next step

ok, I will give it a try.

However, please note that the pc is connected via a modemrouter to dsl. Devolo is only the admin software and was added just 2 weeks ago, i.e. Months after the BSODs started. Hence, any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I am wondering whether this rather anhardware or a software issue. The only similarity between the BSODs seems to be that at least one process is running and I have constant read/write access to the (windows) ssd and the (data) harddisk. The video is not running e.g. as preview - the crashes occur when transcoding. Could this point to a issue with the drives\ setup of the drives / motherboard? As mentioned before this issue might have started when I installed the SSD.

Oberfrank

The BSOD all point to a memory related error... which means that BSOD are happening when read memory (this could be you local pagefile (hdd) or L1,L2,L3 cache of the the processor, or the RAM itself...

Since you have told me that you have done memtest for a 8 passes.. RAM is out of the equation... Since there are no Bugcheck 0x124 error processor are out of the loop... which then leaves the HDD.. for which I asked you post the SMART value... which again turned to be fine...

So....here is something you can do

1. Do sfc /scannow to check for error in Windows

2. Do a stress test on the hardware using Prime95

3. Do a stess test on the CPU using IntelBurnTest

Let me know your feedback once you do this...

Do all these after you make sure that devolo service is not the issue

Deinstalled Devolo software, restarted and got 1x hanging PC and 1x bluescreen.

Prime95 Small FFT: PC did hang 2 times and third time it worked for 3 hours. All threads worked. Only the 4th one was a bit behind compared to the other ones...

IntelBurnTest: I did the high and very high test. Settings: 5 TImes, Threads: all. The tests were passed. High peaked at 57 degrees celsius and very high at 59.4 degrees. With a max amount for the processor of 62 degrees I skippe the maximum test...

Afterwards I had 2 additional crashes (1x Avidemux, 1x Canon DPP).

I have attached a new diagnostics file.
