Blue Screen (BSOD) After System Image Restore - *** STOP 0x000000F4...

Any feedback ???

Can you still help or is it useless? :(

Mike

Your not getting C: because when you are booting from the DVD .. the drive letters are different.

One way to do it is trial and error method.... Try typing D: ... if it goes to D: then type DIR to confirm that you are in partition where Windows Folder is shown... This is the boot partition.

If D: doesnt work try another letter

or

You could try this....

  1. Type DISKPART
  2. then type LIST DISK
  3. select the First disk ... ex DISK 0 by typing SELECT DISK 0
  4. then type LIST VOLUME
  5. this will show you which drive letter is shown as Boot.

I did diskpart and my drive is indeed "C:\". What command do you want me to do in order to get to C drive? I tried "cd C:\" and it says X:\Sources (like it says at beginning). Shouldn't it say C:\?

I did that and then it gave me this:

X:\Sources>cd c:
C:\
X:\Sources>

It is back to X:\Sources. =\

from the looks of how things are going .. there are two options.

Option 1

  1. Boot in ubuntu and get into windows and backup all your stuff to an external HDD..
  2. Forget the settings .. they can be redone again even though its more work..
  3. for bookmarks ..
    1. Chrome... go to C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
    2. Firefox ... go to C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ .. check inside the folder which has default mentioned in its name.
    3. Opera ... go to the Opera installation directory.

Option 2

  1. If you cant get to backup from Ubuntu ... then get an external HDD case where you can pop the laptop drive to it and use it as an external hdd..
  2. Plug it to a desktop computer and windows follow the same steps of 2 and 3 of option 1

Once you have done this.. Do a clean reinstallation of windows

Thought so. :(

I will have to try and re-image the old harddrive and see if it works. The problem was that the screw to put the HDD in was stripped, so I have to send it in for repairs.

Thanks for trying.

I was thinking there was a problem when I imaged the HDD. Why am I getting this BSOD and no one else when they restore an image?
