Yellow specs = random access latency across platter the with the scale on the right hand side of the graph.

BTW, just a heads up. The free version of HDTune will change the "put the computer to Sleep" time to "Never" and will not restore what you had it set to. Took me a while to figure out HDtune was messing with my power plan.
Thanks on both counts. I wondered what was messing with power settings.

I don't see it posted anywhere in this thread that one of the main reasons for this utility's development was to find the sweet spot (short stroke) on the disk when doing your partitions.

I have 3 drives in my notebook:
Intel 80GB mSATA II SSD, SSDMAEMC080G2H (OS boot and programs only - no games)
Hitachi 500Gb 7200RPM SATA II HDD, HTS725050A9A364
Hitachi 750Gb 7200RPM SATA II HDD, HTS727575A9E364

Each one of the HDD's are short stroke partitioned into 4 sections, the 1st on each HDD is for the fastest reads, games and program downloads, and the slowest for documents to music/movies/backups....
The slowest part of the disks (F & K) I just split into whatever I felt I needed.
Hitachi 500Gb, D/E/F/G
Hitachi 750Gb, H/J/K/L

1st, The Hitachi 500Gb HDD

Nice test Boshko although the burst rate doesn't make much sense compared to the average.

Here's a shot of my SSD benchmark from HD Tune. The values look as I would expect except the burst rate, which seems low. This is a new build and the machine is running very well with no performance issues that I'm aware of, but I would like some other opinions on this aspect of the benchmark.

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H
CPU: Intel 3770K
RAM: Kingston HyperX Black, 8gb x 2
SSD: Crucial M4 128gb

Gary, have you ever tried running Seatools for DOS 2.23 on either of your Seagates? If so, did the program find the drives? Neither of my 2tb drives were found when running the DOS 2.23 version....Seatools for Windows found them and worked fine though.

No, Seatools for DOS found none of my drives and two are Seagate. I used it on a bootable USB flash stick using both YUMI (Your Ultimate Multiboot Installer) YUMI - Multiboot USB Creator (Windows) | USB Pen Drive Linux And UBCD (Ultimate Boot CD) Ultimate Boot CD - Overview
It would seen the 2.23 version needs a little work.

I used my UBCD USB stick, and I burned Seatools for DOS 2.23 on a CD and neither found my drives....it was very odd. I ended up using Seatools for Windows to Zero write the drive and then ran the Long duration Read test on it. Passed both tests, and it's ready to go. Glad to know it's not a problem specific to my system.

Thanks

You're welcome. I think UBCD has Parted Magic on it, I use the secure erase feature on it to wipe drives.
