Solved Time to connect to Internet

1) type 192.168.0.1 into your web browser

2) login with the default username (admin) and the default password (changeme). Change me is one word. If the login details don't work use what you have changed them to.

3) click advanced settings

4) click backup/restore

5) click backup

6) turn off your SH by the mains and let it cool down

7) take out the white (co-ax) wire

8) turn on your SH with the white (co-ax) wire still out and find the reset button on your SH and press it for 20 seconds

9) turn off the SH by the mains for 60 seconds and then put the white (co-ax) cable back in

10) turn on the SH

11) look at the back of the router and find your SSID should be something like virginmedia...

12) remember the name and password and on your laptop look for the new network name and input the password when trying to connect

Do at your own risk and let me know if you have any problems. Also restart your laptop and let me know if it connects quicker.

Note: A common problem with the SH I find is it doesn't reset to the factory settings when you use the reset button. I tried steps 6-10 several times. You know that the SH has reset when the network name has changed to virginmedia...

If you never ever changed the network name then I suggest you do that first via 192.168.0.1 settings so it makes it easier when you come to steps 6-10.

You mean the co-ax signal cable?,but why if the SH is switched off what is the point of withdrawing the co-ax.Been having a look at the backup/restore and from what I see it just stores the details in a file for future use in case of a mishap.Am I wrong and missing something?.

Co-ax correct. I said white cable as when helping people on forums it is best to be as simple as possible lol. At no means am I saying you're thick but if other people find this thread via Google then the white cable would be pretty obvious. When I followed VM instructions, I thought what is the point as well.

Woops I forgot to post what I did, please see the instructions again. VM instructions failed but continuously trying to reset the SH worked for me.

Backup settings is there incase the above instructions make no difference whatsoever. It saves you having to change everything again. I recommend you always backup your settings before doing anything.

Will give your suggestion a try but just to keep the records straight Virgin fit both black and white co-ax cable,depending on the customers choice.

Tried what you suggested Mangoh and sorry to say it ain't made any difference,still that time lag while searching for internet connection.As I have said previously,the signal strength is excellent and could not be stronger once it is up and running,it is the delay in connecting to the internet that is the only bugbear.Will have to exert a little patience and wait for the release of the modified SH later this year.

While having a look around the SH's information I noticed that the boot code version is "2.3.0beta7".Correct me if I am wrong but I was under the impression that anything marked as beta was in the trial stage.Software version is "v2.37.01 and hardware is 2.What say you bud/.

My boot code, software version and hardware version is the same as yours. It does indeed suggest it is in beta :S

1. Contact Virgin for a firmware update they will be able to point you in the right direction if there is one.

2. Can you post an ipconfig /all for review please when connected wirelessly to the superhub?

Go to start>accessories>command prompt and type:

ipconfig /all press enter.

Then right click in command prompt area and choose select all.

Click in the reply box in this forum.
Right click and choose paste and then post reply once the contents have loaded into the reply box.

When I right click in reply box all I can activate is delete and select all.

After doing the ipconfig /all in command prompte did you right click and choose select all the screen should go white then click into reply box right click and choose paste it works.

Everything worked fine until I right clicked and then the only two items available were delete and select all.Also tried to copy and paste but no go.
