The Core 2 Duo processors are good, but they are old. If you want to stay on Intel, a Core i3 processor should be fine. It is a strong dual core processor... Search for a pc with it.

Also Intel Core i5 CPUs are good processors (quad core), but they're a waste if you don't run any type of game or demanding applications.

In my opinion, search for a pc with a 3rd generation Core i3 processor, maybe without graphics card... Then when you have your new pc, install on it your GeForce GT 630 :)

I am returning my graphics card to amazon and the ram. So do you think the i3 is good enough to last me a while or should I get the i5 just in case microsoft comes out with windows 9 or something down the road.

If you aren't going to play games or to run heavy applications, a core i3 will be enough. If you want morwe power, then go for an i5.
In my opinion, go for an i3 and save money for buying a new graphics card or an SSD, which will drammatically speed up tour pc.

To be honest I don't think I will get an SSD unless I have to. I don't like them because they are more money, less space and don't last as long as HDD. But don't you think the graphics card in a brand new PC will be good enough? Just curious.

You can get only a 32 GB SSD just to install Windows and speed up the pc, and using another hard drive to intall programs, store files, etc...

Brand new PCs often have integrated or poor graphics cards... They are still enough for watching HD videos, but for video editing/3D games you need a decent dedicated graphics card...

What are you going to do with the new pc? )more detailed you are explaining me this, more i can help you :) )

Honestly I only really use the PC for Photoshop, the internet and watching movies online. Also for Microsoft office. But I don't play games on my PC because I use my Xbox for that and I don't edit videos either.

If you use photoshop, a dedicated GPU woul help your system... But a Core i3 will be more than enough as CPU.

The Core i3 3220 is the fastest i3 in the market, it is capable to run most of today applications and games with good performance, it has got the hyperthreading technology which allow the system to see 4 cores on the CPU instead of 2 (this will speed up multi-threaded applications by 30-40%), is clocked at 3.3 GHz and has got the Intel HD 2500 integrated graphics, which is not really powerful but it's long way better than your old 8400 GS.

In my opinion, this pc (the p7-1510) should be really good for you, and in future it can also be upgraded with faster CPUs and graphics cards if you need them.

In my opinion Windows 8 is really good for tablets and touchscreen laptops, but it is bad for desktops.

Every pc I own runs Windows 7 (or Windows XP, on an old Pentium 4 laptop), and I don't think I will update them to Windows 8 for now...
Windows 7 is simplier, a little faster and has got better compatibility with old applications than Windows 8. And I think that "Metro" interface is really bad if you don't have a touch screen.

Thats why I think I will install windows 7 on a new PC that I get. They all come with windows 8 so I will have to install 7 myself. What do you think about an AMD processor. This is the exact model number.

AMD Quad-Core A8-5500 Accelerated Processor

It is a nice quad-core processor, with a moderate integrated graphics card, the Radeon HD 7560D.
For his price, it is a really good choice. It can't compete with Intel's core i5-i7 quad core processors (which are long way faster), but the amd A8-5500 is always a quad core processor... And a new generation AMD quad core processor is simply fast :)

This will be a nice choice for what are you going to do with your pc ;) and the integrated Radeon HD 7560D will help a lot in graphics performance: in fact you won't need an external graphics card!
