Here are my complete computer specs. I am looking to improve my ram by adding another 4 GB so can someone help me find a good deal on that? or if there's a good for ram bigger than 4GB, let me know about that too please.

Also, can you someone review my specs and tell me if anything needs to be upgraded, changed, etc.. for example: driver.

Thanks

Hi John,

The spec list does not give enough information really. Could do with the motherboard brand and model, but I believe the i7 930 runs on a 1366 socket motherboard, this should have 6 ram slots as it runs triple channel ram.

Therefore I would advise against adding another 4GB, as 4GB kits are dual channel. My suggestion if you want more ram is to search for either a 6GB or 12GB Triple channel ram kit and ditch the existing ram. I don't know what speed of ram your motherboard supports, but I strongly suspect 1600mhz will work just fine.

Paul.

For RAM you should run the Crucial Scanner. That will tell you what the maximum possible is. And it is probably best, if you throw out the current sticks and get a complete new compatible set. Mixing RAM sticks always spells trouble.

Another improvement which is really a performance kicker would be to add an SSD for the OS. This one is one of the best suited. Watch for sales at Newegg. They have sold for as low as $129.

First we need you to fill in your system specs in this fashion.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html

The system spec you already have filled in only show a
32bit Windows 7. If that is true you will be limited to 4 gigs of ram.

Yes I see the specs in your post but I have no idea where and how you got them.

This is another good way of getting specs.

Speccy - System Information - Free Download

I suspect the 32bit in his system spec is an error, in the screen shot it shows his PC as having Home Premium 64bit.

Hi John12,

How many memory slots are on your motherboard ?

Have you looked at NewEgg.com ? They have sales on name brand memory from time to time, sometimes with mail in rebates.

From the file you have attached, it appears I was correct in thinking its a 1366 socket motherboard.

So I stand by what I said in my 1st post.

First off our Forum rules.

2) No useless posts, e.g., thread bumping, useless one liners, junk posting to increase post count, and identical multi-postings in different forums.

My next suggestion would to get a copy of your motherboard manual. It will tell you lots of needed information. Concerning ram it will tell you the ram it supports and the proper position to install them.
One should have a motherboard manual for every motherboard they have. It's priceless but yet still free.

Here is your motherboard - 4VWF2 MS-7591 Motherboard | Dell 4VWF2 Alienware Aurora Alx Board

It also shows the amounts of ram and speed of ram you can put in it.

I cannot however find any information on Supported Ram but I expect most brands will work.

As I said before, ditch the old ram and look for either a 6GB or 12GB triple channel kit, 1600mhz speed will be fine.
