I have been having a strange problem the last week or so. I have an Admin account and a Guest account on my Windows 7 PC. I always use the Admin account. However since a week ago I am not able to do anything on this account: the cursor goes into the 'busy' mode and my laptop is effectively stuck. The only thing that works is Ctrl-Alt-Del. I do this and 'switch user' to my Guest account. Everything works fine on the Guest account. When I switch back to the admin account it is still stuck on busy cursor with nothing else being able to be done.

I have restarted/shut down several times. I have run a full scan using Avira and found nothing. I have tried opening Task Manager (using Ctrl-Shift-Esc) to see what's going on, but while the Task Manager window does show on screen, it does not me anything (i.e. the window is empty).

What could the problem? Really grateful for any help as all my useful documents are on my admin account's documents folder and currently inaccessible. Thanks!

SandeepP, thanks for replying but this just tells me how to create a new user profile and copy over my old profile to it. My current profile does not show a 'corrupted' message, it just shows a busy cursor. Wondering why that is happening and if there is a way of fixing it?

Fixed - don't know how

Just to update: I updated my BIOS as I hadn't done that in many months. Somehow that seems to have fixed this problem, don't know how. All's well that ends well...

Hi theroyale,

Its great to hear it is working now. I understand updating BIOS would not have been an expected resolution but we are glad it is working.

Anyways it was great to assist you.
