Solved Can not delete Ubuntu partition after uninstalling Ubuntu

I insalled Ubuntu along side windows 7 , and then i removed it using the command prompt by typing the two commands ( i used windwos 7 DVD installtion disk)
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec fixmbr
and now when my computer starts it boots to windows 7...but when i try to delete the partition that contains the Ubuntu , it does not work, i use the disk management tools from windows, I've tried many times but every time i get the same message ...
is there any way to delete this partition from w7 or do i need to have third part software..

The problem is that the Linux partition is in a format that Windows does not recognize. The easiest is probably if you reformat the partition to NTFS.

That doesn't remove an Ubuntu install, instead, all it does is reset the MBR and default boot back to Win7.

Thanks guys for the reply, i am sorry i can not attach the message as i am away from home and can not access my PC, what you mean by '' reformat the partition to NTFS'' how can i do that

Right click on the partition either in Computer (highlight partition first) or in Disk Management and you'll see.

when I highlight the partition only delete is active others are inactive , and when i hit delete it does not work...

How is the situation in Disk management.

You will need a 3rd party partition manager, Try aomei free version :

AOMEI Partition Assistant ? free disk partition manager software, helps you to resize partitions, merge partitions etc.

Ditto WHS.
I personally would put linux on a separate disc of its own and do a BIOS boot.
I bought an extra SSD for this purpose but for me linux is still just a technical exercise. Windows 7 is fine but maybe not forever!

no, wait a second. Ubuntu does not usually make logical NTFS partitons called Recovery_partition. Seems like a recovery partition made by the PC manufacturer.

You also have around 143 Gb of free space or unformatted partition (the first entry in the list of the screenshots). Select that from Disk management and create a new partition or format as NTFS. Won't delete that partition you want to delete, but you will get back 143 GB anyway. You can leave that other alone, as it's tiny.

Yes Mate, IT did not work, the delete is active but when i use it nothing happened

Hmm, that is strange. Did you click on 'Apply' (top left) ?? And if 'Delete' does not work, try
Format'. It is a button on the top. but you have to highlight the partition first.
