Is it possible to transfer installation to different Windows version?

Hi there,

I am familiar with transferring an Win 7 OS to different hardware (ie, without doing a clean install)
But is it possible to transfer from say 'Windows 7 Enterprise' to 'Windows 7 Ultimate', both 64 bit.

What I am trying to avoid is having to reinstall a zillion programs, that's the goal!

Any ideas?

I don't think there is a upgrade path from Enterprise to Ultimate, but if there is then use Anytime Upgrade.

Windows 7 Ultimate and Enterprise editions are essentially identical. The only differences are that the Enterprise edition is not a retail product but available only through volume licensing and the premium games are disabled by default. If that does not answer your question you need to explain it more fully.

It's actually because of those different licensing schemes LMiller mentions that there isn't any way to either Anytime Upgrade or use a workaround to change versions when Enterprise is involved.

That's what I thought...looks like I'll be doing a full new install...

PS. BTW the reason I asked initially was that I was hoping to sell the license on fleabay! HaHa (I had seen someone else sold the same thing and did it twice without getting rousted by the powers that be!!!) But my listing was deleted. So I guess that's a no go!

Enterprise is volume licensed by large organizations so you can't sell it on eBay. It's license is tied up with all the others in that group. Retail, yes, can be resold like any of your other property that you actually own.

On first use you agree to not sell, giveaway, backwards engineer etc ... and only make one backup copy of the OS.
So, either your word is no good or
your word is no good. (It's got to be one or the other)

Europe and the USA are two different Countries with differing Laws.
Here is an easy hint to help alleviate some of your confusion,
