Hey guys,

This is my first post here and I am really frustrated. I had to create an account here because no other answer has helped me.

So recently my Wired Afterglow Xbox 360 Controller stopped working on my computer. I went into the device manager and have troubleshooted it millions of times. The troubleshooter says that it can't find a solution. So I assume that it's the drivers because when I had a similar problem where the 4 lights on the controller were blinking, and all I had to do was trouble shoot it to reinstall the drivers. But that wasn't working at that moment. So I thought that the controller didn't work anymore and went out and bought a Logitech F310 Gamepad. (I really wanted to play my game)

Well I have the same problem once again -_-

When I plug in the gamepad, something strange happens. I hear the sound that indicates a USB device has been plugged in, but I didn't see the "Installing New Device Software" notification that you get from your taskbar when you plug in a new device. In the device manager, the gamepad is shown in the other devices section.

d9caf1c9567192e95be6c484491968df.png

So I tried to troubleshoot it. but this happened: a5ff5c892ee61909f116dc4baf5244bd.png
Once again, I thought this was a driver problem, so I went to update the driver, and chose the option to search for the driver online. They recommended an xbox 360 wired controller as the driver, but it says that the installer has failed. So I downloaded the xbox 360 wired controller and tried to install it manually, this was the result: a0641a92c9b2db64c186b2b20f4c1240.png

So please could anyone help me fix this problem? I would really like to play my game.

First, "Welcome to the Seven Forums.". . .

Now the silly question: Have you installed the drivers? I ask only because some people do not think about that prior to plugging in a new device.

Now for the next silly question: Did you plug in your controller prior to installing the drivers? Sometimes a new device requires that the drivers be installed before hooking up the new device (printers are one of the devices that sooner have the drivers installed first).

For the first "silly" question: I installed the drivers (the xbox 360 ones) to try and fix my problem with the afterglow controller, which never worked. I think the reason why they aren't installing is because of those drivers, so if you could tell me how to delete those drivers, that would be nice :)

I'm talking about this:

For the second "silly" question: I guess you could say I plugged them in after.

NOTE: I did try to search for the Logitech F310's drivers, but all I got was software, and when I install that, it asks me to plug in my controller (which I have already) so I take it out and plug it back in, so it also does not recognize it.

To get around the driver install go to "Recovery" and pick a point prior to the driver install. Hopefully this will remove the drivers, and you can again an attempt to get your devices working. . .Good Luck. . .:)

As to the imagines you posted they just didn't help; not that they were bad they just didn't help me.

If you open up device manager and uninstall a device, you should get a box with an option to "Delete the driver software for this device". Do that then unplug the device and reboot. For the Logitech Game Pad I would go to the Logitech site for the driver or use the CD that came with it, if it came with one.

UPDATE I had a feeling that it wasn't just the controllers. So I plugged in an apple usb cord and plugged in my iphone, the same thing happened. It seems that everytime I plug in a new device into my computer, windows doesn't recognize it. When I plugged in my apple usb and then plugged in my phone, the "iPhone" was shown under "Other Devices" with a yellow triangle with an "!" in it. Could somebody please help me fix this?

It would appear that your USB drivers are either not functioning or not installed. As a precious posted indicated go into "Device Manager," and see if your USB drivers are installed or if there is a "Yellow Triangle" in its place. If the triangle is there then "Right Click," and attempt a repair. If unable to repair then you have only a couple of choices left. . .think you know what they are.

One option is to go into device manager and Uninstall everything listed under "Universal Serial Bus controllers". Then reboot and Windows "should" redetect them and reinstall all your USB drivers. Another option would be to reinstall your chip-set drivers. USB support should be backed into Windows but you might get lucky by reinstalling the chip-set drivers.

I been using these controllers for over 10 years. On XP you really needed the Logitech software but on 7 its not really required. I use a program called Xpadder, v5.7 I used the controller last nite then this morning it was dead. I hooked it up to a different pc to verify that it was working and it was. So after staring at my pc for an hour i got the idea to download the Logitech software and voila, working.
Rebooting did not resolve my issue.

Hope this helps.

Failed again. Remove Logitech software, the trick seems to be plugging it into another pc. My motherboard has some RAM issues so Idn if this is a contributing factor.

Working...

USB and RAM issues? I would suspect your CPU is failing, ya might want to test that.

TRY see this!, go to CONTROL PANEL and check IF any abnormality.. IF YES, settle its problems first. u may need to use RESOURCE CD - MOTHERBOARD,......IF NOT, perform SFC /scannow or UNINSTALL AND RE-INSTALL back ur current drivers at control panel
