Please run the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool once again, and provide the FRST.txt in your reply.

Fine for me...I'm retired!
Also run the Farbar Service Scanner like you did before, and post its FSS.txt report.

On the MSE History tab captured...

Check one of the files (box on the left) and click: Remove
Do each, one at a time, same as above.
What happens?

If the above does not work, place a check to the left of each file
Now, go to the Settings tab
On the left panel, select: Advanced
Check: Remove Quarantined files, and select after: 1 day
Click: Save changes

Wait 24 hours (or a few minutes longer), and check the History tab once again. Are the files gone?

Also you can check this folder to find Quarantined items:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Quarantine

In any event, files in Quarantine pose no threat. The point of Quarantine is to allow you to restore an item that was falsely identified as a threat or that you are willing to risk due to the importance of the quarantined item.

Deleting detected history has NO effect on scans. It is just a report.

okay so here are the new FRST and FSS results. And when I try to save changes on MSE it comes up with the same error message as when I try to remove the Trojan. obviously I know as you said, once its quarantined then it is no harm but its just a bit worrying that I don't have full control over MSE.

razzledazzle94,

Let's merge a missing key into the Registry:

:info: Please open Notepad by pressing the Windows key and the R key at the same time.
In the Open area, type: notepad
Copy and paste all the text inside the code box below to Notepad:

Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellServiceObjects\{F56F6FDD-AA9D-4618-A949-C1B91AF43B1A}]
"AutoStart"=""

In Notepad, go to File > Save As
Save the file to: Desktop
Save the file as: fixacs.reg
Save type as needs set to: All files

On the Desktop, double-click: fixacs.reg
When a box pops up, click: Yes
Confirm the key was added to the Registry
Click: OK

Restart the computer.

On the Desktop, right click fixacs.reg, and select: Delete
Also empty the Recycle Bin.

:info: Now, press the Windows key and the R key at the same time.
In the Open area, type: services.msc

In the Services console, make sure Security Center is there, and:
Startup Type is set to: Automatic (Delayed Start)
Service Status is set to: Started

When done, please run the Farbar Service Scanner once again, and post its FSS.txt report.

Need to be out for a while. Will be back later.

...its just a bit worrying that I don't have full control over MSE
That is understandable.

:info: Please run AdWCleaner as requested by Jacee. That will take care of all sorts of "stuff".

:info: Then, let's uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), and download it anew...

Please right-click the TaskBar at the bottom of the screen, and select: Start Task Manager

To end the MSE process, do the following:

In Task Manager, click the Process tab.
Find the following process: msseces.exe
Right-click the entry, and click: End Process
If a prompt appears, confirm the action.

:info: Next stop and disable the MSE service...

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories
Find the Command Prompt, right-click it, and select: Run as Administrator

At the Command Prompt, type (or copy/paste with the mouse) the following: net stop msmpsvc
Press: Enter

Do the same as above for: sc config msmpsvc start= disabled
Press: Enter

Last, at the Command Prompt, type: exit
Press: Enter

:info: Next, see if you can uninstall MSE from Control Panel > All Programs > Uninstall Programs
It should be listed as Microsoft Security Essentials.

:info: If you cannot uninstall from Uninstall Programs, use Microsoft Fix It 50692:
How to manually uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0.1963 if you cannot uninstall it by using the Add or Remove Programs item
Go to: Fix it for me

:info: When done, see if you can Download Microsoft Security Essentials from Official Microsoft Download Center

If you have any problems along the way, please post whatever they are.
