Solved Surely theres's a way to disable the annoying caps lock popup?

I got a chuckle when I read OP talked to the manufacturer rep and was told no work around and yet carries on and on and on about it anyway, live without the lighting, tada, done. Adapt or get another keyboard, they wear out anyway.


I have a logitech keyboard, I accidentally pressed Caps Lock often, so I used the app to disable it and same for Windows key, can re-enable in 4 clicks.

That's a cool story.

Except it's a laptop. Getting a new keyboard is not an option here.

Anyway, problem solved, uninstalled the software and my backlight still remains. Thank you for all your help.

Well laptops can use externals, but I see that point, uninstalled and still works? You rebooted since?

And laptop keyboards do get replaced, albeit at a typically higher expense.

sounds like you could have done with a helpful pop up on your screen to let you know caps had been turned on,

It DOES solve your issue. You use the shift key and leave the Caps lock key alone. You don't want a work around to your issue you say.........FIX the issue the correct way and start using the shift key like you are suppose to.

That`s what I was getting at by saying, "Who uses cap-locks anyway"

But apparently the OP does all his typing in capitol letters, I WONDER IF HE EVER GETS TOLD TO STOP SHOUTING, oops, sorry had the cap-locks on, my bad.

I can understand the OP's frustration. He's been using a keyboard in a certain way that worked fine for every keyboard up to this one. Retraining an old habit isn't easy for many people. Nor should the OP have to retrain. Even if he only used the caps lock occasionally, that pop up would be extremely annoying, especially since it's really unnecessary.

Yes, I can understand that. The OP is using the Caps Lock to capitalize things when he should be using the shift key. A string of upper case characters is a lot less common than needing a capital letter say, when typing a paper. Seems he got it fixed though, and won't have to learn how to do it correctly.

I could understand if the pop-up message made the PC lose focus on the window or did something crazy, but it's just a pop-up..........if he used the shift key the way he was suppose to, the caps lock key would be used very infrequently.

Ya know, it just really doesn't matter if he is using the caps lock unconventionally. It's not unreasonable for the OP to expect his current computer to behave as previous ones he has used. Sometimes, somethings work better for some people and not for others. Some people use the caps lock key, others don't. If using the caps lock key works for the OP, then there is nothing wrong with doing so.

Well, he had to disable software as a workaround to a problem that shouldn't be a problem. I wonder if he lost any functionality having to do so??

The OP came here looking for a way to turn that specific feature off, AFTER talking to the manufacturer which said there wasn't a way to turn that particular feature off. He acted like he had never used the Shift key before. I simply offered an easy solution.

Sigh! You just don't get it. It may be an easy solution for you but that doesn't mean it was for the OP. Once the OP emphatically stated using the Shift key wasn't an option, it was time to move on to Plan B (Plan 9, whatever).

I suggested he try the shift key to see if that seemed like a viable option rather than uninstalling software. He made it seem like he'd never heard of the concept before! The shift key IS an option as long as it's there and functions, Jesus.

Could always uninstall the software and re-wire the backlighting for the keyboard to piggy-back off the power button LED. Also i think Layback bear is telling a porky pie about not using shift lol.

Is there a reason why someone needs to hold a child for "hours on end"? And yes, I DO have a child, she's 9, and ended up being just fine not being held constantly.

My first baby was colicky her first year. My ex and I spent many hours holding her. Of course, we didn't have computers back then (my first baby turned 40 this year).

In situations like that, yes, holding them does help sometimes. Although I have been around colicky babies that cried no matter what you did. When mine was a baby, I wasn't on the computer unless she was asleep.....and many times that was my naptime as well!
