I may be wrong, again, but I think the overclock settings aren't available in the BIOS with a non K CPU, it's like OEM machines with few options. There may however be RAM adjustments, dunno.

Yeah I really ain't sure on it Gary, maybe someone with a non K series can confirm, but I seem to remember in the past in the overclock thread a couple of people posting some decent overclocks with non K.

I know for a fact the i7 3820 which is the non K Sandy E can be overclocked past 5GHz, but I am not sure on Ivy non K.

The 3820 can be OC'd, but again, it is in Intel's Extreme line.

Well it's the Enthusiast line, obviously the X versions are the Extreme ones, but I am sure I saw someone a while back get over 4GHz on a 2500 non K on here, I am really not sure on Ivy though.

Non K chips usually will allow a 400mhz OC, at least intels. The 15-3330 I had was 3.0 with 3.2 turbo, I could OC to 3.6 in the bios. It allowed setting up to 45, but never went above 3.6 except for the occasional turbo spike.

Steve's Special. Breaking ground

So here are some preliminary shots of what it looks like right now.
It is a work in progress, so bear with me.

This rig will be presented at a trade show in August, so any advice and tips are more than welcome!

The case will be done in some kind of a Star Wars theme, something to do with an Imperial Stormtrooper, Vader's Tie Fighter or an X Wing Fighter. Not sure yet. I'm working on it right now. Will upload some sketches later this week so you can all give me your opinion and help me decide.

Steve, once again, thank you very much for everything!

Next "special" will be something for Paul. Will start work on it by the second week of August. Any requests Paul?

Well, I leave you with the pics.

Cheers,

J

Very nice Juan.

Yeah the next one needs one of these - GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - GA-Z87X-OC Force (rev. 1.0)
And 2 of these - TITAN - GeForce GTX PC Gaming Graphics Card | NVIDIA UK lol.

It would certainly be bright with that motherboard and some matching colour watercooling haha.

Hey Paul, how are you?

I've been really wanting to try that board out, so maybe we can oblige!
Regarding the Titans, I would love to do it, but I'm not sure we can afford them yet.. You greedy geek!!! :geek: Hahhahaha.
We'll see.
An orange water cooling system would rock! Will see what I can find down here.

Any theme request for the case?

Cheers,

J

Yeah I was only joking with the titans lol, maybe 2 or 3 770's instead.

Can't really think of a theme but I guess it's gonna be pretty orange :)

Three 770's seems doable.
Nevertheless I'd love to do the Titan SLI.
Will see if we can get someone to sponsor the rig and chip in the Titans.
A 690 would be nice too, don't you think so?

J

And the 690 is too old school now haha.
