BSOD after microupdate in HP XW4600, error 0x000000d1

Hi All,

So swapped out my old dual core cpu for a quad core Q9650. Win 7 booted fine but on start up the bios asked for a microcode update.

The update was installed and now I get a BSOD on boot up.

I understand its a driver issue but do not know what driver is requiring an update.

Please advise urgently, I need this computer for client who is due in on Tuesday!

Please start afresh with a clean install of windows.
Tell us if the BSOD's continue after that.

Yes, I get the same BSOD if the installation disk is used to and booting from there.

I have the disk for the install. When I boot from that it BSOD do I need to follow your link or does that answer your question?

Swapping or adding new hardware often requires one to start with a clean install.

Intelppm.sys is an Intel Processor driver which means Often a re-install is the right choice to rule out most all software causes.

Thanks! I have the original OEM disk but it BSOD from there. Will it not do the same if I download the ISO from your link.

Yes I do. I am downloading the .iso now but it's taking a while. I also have the bios that I could update. Would you advise trying this? Also I could update the intel x38 chipset????
