Odd problem with wireless connection...

Okay, so I've read around the forums and noticed that a lot of people have had a lot of problems regarding wireless connectivity - most of which were related to drivers...well, I've got a problem too, but I don't think it's my driver... As a note, I'm not using the one provided with the Windows 7 install (it didn't seem to work), instead using a driver I got online with Vista.

Some quick info: I am running both Vista and Windows 7 on one computer - dual booting between the two. The wireless adapter works in Vista but not in Windows 7.

I'm using a Linksys WUSB54G Ver.4 USB wireless adapter - It worked in XP, it works in Vista, but it doesn't seem to work in Windows 7. At first I had a driver problem, but quickly fixed that by following some advice in this forum. In my device manager the adapter appears, does not have a exclamation point or etc, and when I check the properties, it says "The device is working properly".
That said, when I check for any wireless signals, I don't see any (in Vista, I can see 2: my own and my neighbors). I've tried manually adding the network with all its info (SSN, WPA-2 Personal, and the key) but to no avail. When I rightclick and say to check for solutions it tells me to make sure to flip the switch on the side of my computer or use the function keys to turn on the adapter (as if I were using a laptop).

I've tried unplugging/replugging the adapter in, full restarts, turning off the powersaving thing where it may turn off the adapter, all with no luck. If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate the assistance.

Once again, I believe I have a working driver, but if someone has the same device and it works then feel free to point me in the direction of the driver you have and I'll test that one out just in case...

I had similar problems. Downloaded these drivers. All ok now. :)

Will that driver work on the x32 version? Cause the linked post says it's for the 64 bit; which - as I understand it - wont be compatible with the 32bit. I could install the 64bit but that'd be another big download and install =/

No dice. When I use that driver, the device manager reports an error: Failed to start
Any other suggestions?

You could try the Realtek drivers site. They are for most make of adapters. :)

After hours and days trying to troubleshoot my NO WIRELESS CONNECTION problem with my new Win7 notebook ASUS technical finally gave me the answer.
[Fn][F2] then click on antenna icon on screen. waalaa. I now have wireless connection(s). This is the softkey switch that turns off/on wireless ability. some computer have an actual switch on the front or side of the laptop.
Try it; can't hurt. Hope it helps

Exact same problem with Windows 7. The wireless card does not see any wireless networks. In fact, I cannot enable it [FN + F2] as the red X stays on. How can I download the driver being discussed? I tried following the links, but after ending up at the drivermax.com site and installing the product, there is no driver to download. Help!
