If there are Physically 2x 6GB/s ports and 4x 3GB/s ports, and the BIOS is reporting the same,
then that's what you have.

I see your list and that's what I found, but if i click the link you gave it only shows 2 6gb ports

I understand your confusion now. I'm also confused.
Your could check the Asus motherboard forum and see if their is a way to use all 4 sataIII ports at the same time.

You have 8 ports with 3 different colors. Other that the Asus Forum I don't know where to find the needed information.

I just got a BRAIN STORM.
Look in the motherboard manual and see if you can find some answers.

Let me ask this.....What exactly are you wanting to do? You have 6 Intel controlled ports and those are the ones you need to use. There is no advantage in hooking up anything other than an SSD to a SATA III port. Also, in your BIOS under the advanced tab, go to Onboard Devices Configuration and see what the storage controller is.

I was simply trying to get the fastest speeds from my other hdds.
I also noticed that when I reconnected my hdds, I missed the 2nd 6gb port.

You have 2 ports that are SATA III that are controlled by an AsMedia chipset. You won't get any better performance with a hard drive by using them. Hard drives BARELY saturate the bandwidth from SATA I, much less SATA II or III. I'd just leave everything where it is now....absolutely nothing to gain switching to another port.

No problem! If possible, you always want to use the native Intel ports. The fastest hard drives may be able to hit 200MB/s sequential read/write, and that is only 2/3 of the capacity of a SATA II(300MB/s) port. SATA III SSD's can saturate a SATA II port(although sequential read/write speeds are not overly important to an SSD) but you have an extra SATA III port available.

I couldn't find mine, at the moment, but when I contacted Asus, they looked in the manual and said there should be 4 6gb ports.

There technically are 4 SATA III 6Gbps ports.....but only 2 INTEL 6Gbps ports. The others should only be used for emergencies.
