Solved IE10 Crashing and Freezing in Win 7 Ultimate

Every so often, at varying rates of occurrence, IE10 will crash with a window popping up saying it has stopped working , then will restart (most of the time). It also will freeze for around five seconds or so every once in a while, usually when opening a new tab. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it; that worked for a short while, then the problem came back. Sometimes I can go a long time without either happening, then it will happen several times just a few minutes apart. Sometimes, closing and reopening IE10 will fix it for a while; other times it laughs at me and starts crashing or freezing again. I can live with the occasional freezing but the crashing has gotten old.

You have allot going on as far as security,
You might activate Enhanced protection mode and test or even no add-ons mode both would rule out one of the security suites add-ons from effecting ie.
I'd just like to add I'm finding sas a bit of a drag on my system without much benefit anymore since using ie10/ It finds nothing anymore ?
ie9 it always found something.

Well, activating Enhanced Protection Mode didn't work. Darn!

I haven't found SAS to a drag on my system (with six cores and 32GB RAM, how could it?) but it hadn't caught anything is quite a while and I was considering dripping it until last Saturday, when I ran all my scans, it caught a couple of tracking cookies.

If this started to happen recently then have you tried a system restore to a point behind that date?
I think this was caused by an update! I would go back to IE 9 much less troublesome.

It's been going on for a while. I have system restore disabled since I've found it so unreliable in the past and now depend on system images to roll back if necessary. And that hasn't helped here.

I would go back to IE9 but one of the websites I haunt won't run on it. Besides, I don't want to run away from the problem; I want to fix it.

OK then try uninstalling it. Then go to the download page here:
Download Internet Explorer 10 - Download Internet Explorer 10
Make sure you download the right version. (64bit)
Then install that!

Another option to rolling back to ie9 is resetting and delete personal settings/ less problematic,
I will say by using Alt+TB or tools/ compatibility view settings and Uncheck download comp-view lists helped me personally with pages loading much quicker,
Simply delete your browser history to remove the prior downloaded comp-view lists,
The only time I've gotten the famous Page can not be displayed page is on Answers.microsoft.com forum/ to many database conflicts with the forum updates.

Ok, I just now did that. The two times before (the first time I installed it and the second time, after I had uninstalled it), I used Windoze update to install IE10. This time, the install shut down several of my programs during the install so that may make the difference. I've been running this latest installation only a few minutes so it may be a while before I will know if this worked or not. Keeping fingers (eyes, toes, etc.) crossed and knocking on wood (hitting head).

Yes, I was a good girl and downloaded from your link. It's definitely a bit different from the one that came from Windoze Update. The installation was a bit different and my e-mail page (Yahoo) looks a wee bit different. The font is a bit more spidery; not enough to be a problem but just noticeable. If this works, I don't give the north end of a south bound furry little rodent how Yahoo looks as long as it is readable. So far, no crashes or freezes but, the previous times, it took a while before the problems started showing up so we are now in hurry up and wait mode. I've been doing a bunch of mindless browsing to try to hurry the hurry up and wait along a wee bit.

Curious thing happened. I stupidly closed IE10 (I'm good at things like that; I have it down to an art form) and, when I reopened it, Yahoo Mail looked normal again. So far, still no crashes or freezes.

Seriously though Open and Close IE as many times as possible to test it to destruction if poss. (The best future for it IMHO!)

In the past, it seemed the longer IE10 was open, especially if I had two or three tabs open, the more likely it was to freeze or crash. Right now, I have nine tabs open, a wee bit extreme but it might hasten things along (no patience cracks).

Well, I finally had a crash but, in all fairness, I had fifteen tabs open which may have just been pushing it too far. It quickly and fully recovered, though. I'm going to keep it running on only three or four tabs, which is generally no more than I ever have open at any given time anyway.

My ample asset is getting tired of me just sitting here, so I'm going to let IE 10 idle with four tabs open while I lay down, read awhile, and take a short nap before my afternoon TV shows come on.

Well, I just had another crash so it appears the problem isn't fixed. I'm becoming very frustrated.

Use Ctrl+Shift+Delete,
Uncheck the top box and Delete.
Edit you can Uncheck the other boxes if you wish to it's only the top section that needs to be deleted.
Close ie and boot/ Test.
