At least you have a Micro Center near you. The closest to my area is 3 hours away at least. I would have sprung for the 3770k at those prices if I lived closer to one.

Yeah I hear you only reason I can't push is just paid the rent and the car also the health insurance

and you know have to cover home base first then see what you have left to work with plus this would be my barb for my Aug 31 Anniversary gift I'm thinking ahead and what better way to break it down to her

Asrock z77 extreme 4 is the way to go with sandy/ivy overclocking.

I asked about this board a member Paulpicks had it before he said it wasn't that great I honestly believe because i am using a sabertooth AMD board and would like the same these boards are tops

It wasn't a bad board, but something on it never felt quite right, I can't put my finger on it, I was not keen on the overall look of it in my case in the end as it is actually not a full size ATX board.(They trimmed like an inch or around that off the width).
It would not overclock at well as my Sabertooth, I think I managed 4.9GHz on the Asrock.
Also I could not get my 2400MHz ram to run properly at full speed, I had to drop it down to 2200MHz for full stability.
The Sabertooth just runs it flawlessly at 2400MHz.

Looks like that $155.00 Sabertooth is open box and display that's a big gamble not sure if i want to go there

So the is there another Asus board that is of the same caliber I saw the Asus deluxe but still kind of pricey

Ok I am on the phone about the Sabertooth all open boxed and display items they told me the pins were damaged

im going to Bite the bullet and get this package I feel that paul gave me the best advice and I don't need 5 ghz overclocks 4.7 4.8 is fine with me

This Bundle is Asrock extreme 4 :sarc: per pauls advice this should be ok


I can get this today if I play my cards right this would probably be the best path
to victory being on such short notice

I just found the back plate and the top plate that fits my water cooler for Intel

You should be fine with 4.8-4.9 yeah Solar, just don't bother with 2400MHz ram, stick with a max of 2133MHz if you are planning to buy some ram.

I have just been thinking about what I put in post number 25 Solar.

To be honest, what I put was supposed to put you off the Asrock, not make you want to get one.

Did you read what I put in that post lol? It wasn't exactly a glowing review.
It's a cheap board, it works ok, but it feels cheap, well it did to me.

I switched from a Z77 Asrock Extreme 4 to a Z77 Sabertooth. If I had to buy another Z77 board it would not be the Asrock.

I am glad I changed to the Asus Sabertooth, it is much better all round.

There is nothing badly wrong with the Asrock, but as I say, it's a cheap board that does pretty good for the money.

As long as you know my feelings before you buy then that's fine, but it seemed like you didn't after my post number 25 so I figured I would attempt to convey my feelings a little better.

Well I still have a choice to get what is right my dad is on his way here to help me out

So maybe ill go ahead and get a Asus board but no Sabertooth only reason why I would go Asrock at this point is all the other boards don't fit my color scheme and all those other boards are blue and ugly

I see your dilemma, apart from the ROG boards which are too expensive then all the other Asus Z77's are blue.

You have Gigabyte and MSI but I have no experience of them.

You could of course try a higher end Asrock, maybe they are a bit better than the Extreme 4? But again I have no idea and you would need to check some reviews. The Z77 Fatal1ty Professional looks good.

Excuse my French but fk MSI they were one of the worst I came across they were good to a point but not to overclocking friendly

Fair enough mate, I have no experience of MSI at all.

The basic thing I wanted to get across was that if you were coming from a nice quality Asus board like you have in your current rig then you may have been disappointed with the Extreme 4, the first thing with that board that annoyed me was that it was not a full size ATX, I didn't realize until I have got it and it felt a bit flimsy. Then there was the ram issue and of course it didn't overclock as well as my old Asus P67 Evo, I thought at first maybe I just got a bad chip, but the Sabertooth has proved otherwise.

I have a hard time recommending anything other than Asus. The Sabertooth is spendy, but it IS an extremely high quality board.

Hey paul, what were the differences in overclocking ability did you see going from the asrock to asus board?
I've got my 3770k at 4.8ghz now. I can get into windows at 5ghz but crashes within minutes in prime95. Is the sabertooth the answer?
