I installed it but got an error saying that the driver is blocked due to compatibility. So i downloaded the beta version which is, according to Sunbelt, is Windows 7 compatible.
However, the protection seems to be disabled. I try to update but the update fails every time.

Any suggestions?
Dinesh. :)

How does it compare to other AV's though? Have you seen any testing of it out there? Any reports on the various comparative sites?

i dont know why this av is kept aside. its running great so far. Tried to infect the pc with some bad .exe files and it detected them right there. very low on resources. i think i will use it. I find it better than NOD32 and MSE though.

Yeah, I might give it a shot. Watching Matt's review on YouTube right now.

Only problem is, it is not free. I've already paid for ESS and MSE is free. Not sure I want to buy another AV...:(

There are actually 3 processes. This is what I have currently during a full deep scan. Pretty light overall. Seems so far it has found a backdoor trojan that both MSE and ESS missed. I don't know the details yet because it's still scanning.

Yep, found two things that both MSE and ESS missed and did a full deep scan in just 31 minutes (the fastest of anything I have recently used):

Sunbelt claims Vipre is Windows 7 compatible (32 and 64 bit) on the website. They also say the license is per machine not OS install. They refer specifically to running XP mode in Windows 7 (VM requires it's own AV), but it sounds like the license would support multi-OS booting as well. That's a good deal. There was a lot of discussion of Vipre in Wilders when it was first released if you're curious.

While sitting idle, it has 2 processes running which takes just 12-15 MB RAM. While deep scan, the memory usage increases but still the difference is minimum. You dont even know if its running in the background. i m really impressed with thi program so far. :D

In a scan today, Vipre reported engine.dll from my Left4Dead folder as a trojan. Pretty sure it's not. It's been an issue before apparently with other anti virus packages. I sent it to Sunbelt to review and told it to always allow this file. Thankfully I don't have the default action as delete. I restored it from quarantine.

Strange that it did not report this file during a scan yesterday. Maybe new virus defs thought it was I suppose.

Getting now (well, trying to). Will report back when/if I install it

edit: WOW! That gave me nothing but problems. OK, here's what happened.
Uninstalled NOD32--installed Vipre--updated Vipre (20mins!!)
Got an error related to Spybot---uninstalled Spybot---Reboot
Laptop wouldn't shutdown, had to manually power down
Warning about "Incompatable Driver" desktop gadgets wouldn't load---Reboot
Got another warning "Unable to activate on demand restart required"---Reboot
Same warning---uninstalled Vipre, re-installed NOD32
Pity but there is something on my laptop that Vipre doesn't like.....

Hey i guess you downloaded the software which is not compatible for Windows 7 yet. Uninstall the current version and download this version which is fully compatible with Windows 7.

I've used Vipre for a year. I'm testing MSE but will be reinstalling soon. I really like the 'Family Plan" which gives you unlimited installs for all your computers. :)
it can get annoying it you let it use the default update schedule.
I set it for daily.

I'll get around to installing it but is it really that much better than NOD32? It seems lighter, from what I've seen, but does it have the advanced settings/capabilities that NOD32 has?
