Hello SevenForums!

Okay, So please dont judge me here. I was lazy, and I didnt know much about computers when I bought my ... prebuild :(

For the last 3 years it's been fine, not one problem! I upgraded the GPU to a 6870 about 2 years ago. Again, no problems!

However, all of a sudden for the past week i've been having lag spikes whilst playing BF3, and anywhere from 1 - 60 mins, it will completely freeze and require a hard reset.

I've run memtest and windows memory test. No problems.

I've cleaned all my PC and done eveything that i normally would. Im guessing it's heat, but ... when it freezes, it doesnt feel to hot.

I've done temp checks and they're all fine to me too. I've updated my GPU drivers to beta, still froze so i rolled them back. I just dont know what else to do.

Luckily, Im getting a new build (That im actually doing this time! :P) in about a month or so.

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

Im uploading my system info too for anyone to have a look :)

Thanks

What have your temperatures been on the CPU and GPU while gaming? Any idea what % your fan speed is running at as well?

IDLE my CPU + GPU was about 38 - 40

Gaming my GPU goes up to 68 at it's peak. I cant find my CPU at the moment. Not sure what my fan speed was, but Im using MSI afterburner and I put the fan speed up about 40 %

It doesn't sound like a heat issue if your GPU is at 68°C while gaming, that's more than acceptable. Have you uninstalled previous versions of the drivers when updating them?

I didnt no, i just used the catalyst. Would you recommend I uninstall the whole driver for the card and then re-install it?

It's always best to remove all traces of previous drivers when updating. You can use Driver Sweeper to clean up after uninstalling through Device Manager and make sure any previous drivers are completely removed, then update to the latest AMD WHQL drivers.

Aside from the installing/uninstalling Video drivers... have you also updated your Audio drivers? you'd be surprise how much they can interfere. If you haven't do so in the same fashion as you do your video drivers.

Is the game patch to the latest update? Are you sure that is you and not the server you are playing on or the internet?
