Thanks guys, I am on the stock fans so I will pick up some better ones. All seems to be well now, I guess the bsods through it for a loop. I will also pick up some better paste. That was scary but all seems well now.

lol keep in mind he is running 5.2 running stability test that is pretty dang high to be running any chip for too long

Yeah I think you are right, I ran the ole girl to hard running all those and gaming. I will stay at 4.5 until I replace the fans and paste.

John, I have read that guide too. But a lot depends on what you want. It's kind of like buying a new car. The more features you want the more it will cost. You can get a decent kit that is easily expandable for the very low end of his estimates or sometimes lower. Here are some reasonable (for custom water cooling loops). I don't know pricing in AU. But the XSPC kits have some very good performing radiators and CPU blocks. Just pay attention to the pump and the rad. Water is much like air cooling, just water will absorb heat faster, but the name of the game is you still have to have the surface area to get rid of the heat. True with water and true with air. Notice all the best air coolers are monsters. Here is another good water cooling guide, but ,much more basic. Thanks Steve for that forum ref and I found that OC forum ref when I went there looking for some answers on the internals of the pumps after my little run in with Intel which almost cost me the CPU.
The XSPC stuff out here starts at $179 for something that looks fairly basic and up to and over $300 for some rather heavy looking stuff. But if I do go OC it will only be a very small amount as 3.4 is pretty fast for what I use now. But I do find the conversation with you blokes really quite fascinating and I have to admit a bit amusing at times
You probably know about this stuff anyway but if I find anything re the internals of those pumps i the closed circuit stuff I'll get back as I have noticed a few problems cropping up with them. .

@ Doug make sure to get fans with a high static pressure as your radiator has a very dense fin array aswell as being quite thick.

+1 for Arctic Silver 5... I swapped to that Noctua stuff and swapped back with a couple of days as my temps were a good few degrees higher.

Yep Tom I have used it a lot and now I am using the Noctua NT-H1 for a while now I find it easier to apply and less prone to "bleeding" out over the edge of the CPU.
Mind you it is thicker and I put it on with my finger inside a plastic bag say one of those freezer bags and the heat from my finger makes it easier to spread and get level plus the rice grain of course

Even with great fans and thermal paste, 5.2GHz is a little much for stress testing. I think you'd be better served keeping it 5GHz or below unless just validating with CPU-Z.
