Flash Troubles in IE8 - 32

I've noticed that I can't get a flash player for my 64 bit IE so I've been using the 32 bit version, but I've got a problem.

Playing some videos is fine... YouTube and all of those are great.

My problem is when I go to a place like StickAm or Ustream or something like that IE closes on me when the site tries to access my camera and mic. That is annoying, but not too much of a problem.

My other problem is that I can't watch some embedded videos, even the ones I put into my own website from my own account on Viddler. It just closes, restores the 'tab' and I go from there.

Has anyone had this problem before? If so how did you fix it? I already tried the old 'uninstall and reinstall flash' bit and so far I've stuck out.

Any help would be appreciated.

This sounds suspiciously like a java issue. See if you can remove/reinstall java.

This sounds suspiciously like a java issue. See if you can remove/reinstall java.

I've looked around for a way to do it on good ol Win7 here and am having no luck. I've gone an installed Sun's version and still no go.

This is a bit annoying... lol

Flash is not and may never be supported directly for x64.

Other then that issue I mentioned before, I've had no trouble at all so far.

I've installed Java on Windows 7. When I get home, I'll find a link with instructions for you.

I actually found a link that worked on a Vista page at the Microsoft website. I don't know exactly what was so different about it as compared to the one I found from Sun... but it worked. It was indeed a Java issue.

If you need to install Java, just go to Java.com.

However, anytime I've seen this mentioned on a forum board, it's been a flash or DirectX issue. Make sure your video drivers are up to date, and make sure Flash is properly installed and running.

Go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash and run the FlashUtil file with all IE windows closed. Reboot, and then test out those sites again.

You can also forget that an x64 browser is even installed, as there's absolutely no point in using it.

I'll definatly give that a try. I know I had to reinstall a sound driver to get Stereo Mix back, I should have just done that before anyway.

Also, I've all but removed that 64 bit shortcut from my start menu.
