BSOD at random and while running HDD test error 0x000000f4

I can't post the recent dump files because I get a stop error also whenever it tries to write the physical dump.

I have also attached the SF diagnostic, there is an old dump file in there back from march, which may or may not be related to the issue.

A stop 0xF4 is HDD related.

You said it is crashing during HDD test too. What test you tried?

Seatool for dos: SeaTools | Seagate download

• Burn it in a blank cd. boot from the CD, click on "Accept", wait for it to finish detecting the drives, then in the upper left corner select "Basic Tests", then select "Long Test" and let it run.
• ** As you are using AHCI storage controller, Seatools for DOS will not be able to detect a AHCI disc. So Boot into the BIOS, set the storage controller mode to IDE/SATA before running the test.
  • When the test is done, Boot into the BIOS again and set the controller mode back to AHCI, otherwise windows will refuse to boot.

Let us know the results. The test may take long on a 750 GB HDD. If it finds any problem, let at attempt to repair those. If it repairs, run the short test then, to make it sure that the HDD is properly repaired.

If it fails to repair, then you will have no option other than replacing the HDD.

The test that I was running before is a Dell PC check up utility that came with my system. I downloaded and attempted to run the Seatools for DOS and it was unable to detect any HDD. Is there a work around for that or is there another utility that I can run? I've run chkdsk in the past and was unable to resolve my issue using that.

I just read that part sorry! I'll try to change the storage controller mode and try again

Alright so I think I found it in my bios settings, but i'm not sure. I got a pretty scary message when I changed the setting so I want to make verify I'm changing the right thing before I do so. This is for changing my HDD controller from AHCI to IDE/SATA.

See my suggestions to you .... there is something stated about the scary message.

After testing, you will get the AHCI mode back, so the message will not be valid then. But without it, you will not be able to run Seatools for DOS. Dos does not detect AHCI.

Alright so I ran the test and it found 8 errors. Repaired all of them and ran the short test without any problems! I ran my HDD diagnostic that was consistently causing BSOD's as well and I didn't get any blue screens Looks like my problem is solved, thanks so much!
