Where to put thermal display wire?

Hello all, I recently build a custom PC with an ASUS H81M-PLUS motherboard and a Zalman Z9 case, all is well but the case has a thermal display and a wire that is supposed to go somewhere. Can I please be guided as to where it may go? Keep in mind i am 13 and can't really get my hands on thermal compound AND I'm quite clumsy :p.

Here is what it looks like (in the red circle)

Thanks.

What type of connector is on the end ? If it`s USB then you would connect it to any usb header on the motherboard.

Why do you mention thermal compound ? What does it have to do with your question about the wire ?

I've heard elsewhere to put it on the CPU? And also the wire itself has a black coating on the end and a black ball thingy. ???

Basically where ever you feel like the temp needs monitoring the most,

The sensor connects to the LED temperature display on the front of the case, and the user can position it to his or her liking throughout the case

About a third of the way down here,

It's basically a Thermocouple to sense the temperature inside the case so you can adjust the fans below that readout on the front.

You can put it where ever you like but it is not specifically for the CPU, think of the thermostat in your home that reads the temp in your house, then you adjust your heater or AC accordingly.

I like to place a sensor near or on top of the GPU and you can stick it down anywhere with some cello tape. If you have a air cooler for the CPU you can also just place in in the fins of the cooler but make sure the wire is secured away from the fan.

I have a few thermocouples spread around in my messy rig. One is stuck into the mosfet heatsink, I sort of pushed it between the fins. The others are behind cpu, NB heatsink, and one ambient inside ( just sorta hanging around ). But I use a voltmeter every so often to hook up and check up on my rig and see how the temps are. Just need to label the plugs, which goes where.

Gotta have at least 1!
Your temp sensor can be externally mounted anyplace you like. Mount it near the top of the case with the end measuring the case air temp, you can tape the sensor on the metal cooling fins of heat sinks, on the hdd, psu. You can not mount the sensor between the cpu/gpu and heatsink, it would crush the sensor and stop the heatsink from making proper contact.

I'd go for case air temps.
