Windows 7 Kernel-Power id 41 task 63 during gaming!

Hello. My problem is a kernel-power report during gaming.When the problem occurs there is a crash and the sound is fully corrupted.The computer is not responding and I have to reboot it feom the power button. This problem had happened some times before but the only difference was that i used razer game booster. So i decided not to use this programm with that game, and for some days the problem seemed to dissapear, but today the problem showed up with this report:

All these days( about 1,5 weeks) everything else is going great! Have you any ideas how can i solve the problem? My pc is freshly upgraded(psu,gpu).Also i would like to add that this problem is not reported every gaming time, only sometimes.Thank you!

That is not a BSOD and it is not during gaming rather when you forcefully shutdown your PC
after it has entered a hung state (or any other time the PC is not being shutdown cleanly).

Are you overclocking anything?
Are you monitoring the temperatures?

:ar: Test for thermals and stability:

• Download HWinfo and post a Screenshot of the sensors window, one at idle and another while putting load on the PC using Prime95 for the CPU side and Furmark for the GPU.
  • Before running Prime95 make sure to enable Round-off checking (see 1st post under the tutorial).
     Note

  It is not mandatory to run both tests simultaneously, although possible as long as the temperatures are under constant monitoring.

Yes it is not causing a BSOD only that the pc stucks and its is not responding to anything, so i have to shut it down forcefully! I use real temp for checking the temperatures and after quiting the game the temperatures of the CPU are 45-50 and GPU are 45-55.Ihavent overclocked anything on the pc!Also this problem is not happening every time, but it pisses me off.What can I do to fix it?

Storage can also cause a system to freeze, how old is the SSD?

All the games are not installed in the ssd,only windows. So ssd is 1,5 years old! The weird is that the problem only happen in gaming, whatever else is going great!

The fact that the games are not installed on the SSD doesn't mean that Windows is not involved.
Hardware I see implemented during gaming:
Audio, Graphics, Peripherals, Obviously the CPU and Storage.

   Warning

The Following Method Should NOT Be Performed On An SSD!

Testing the HDD:

1. Perform a Disk Check | Disk Check- Scroll down to OPTION TWO of the tutorial and use the /R switch in the CHKDSK command | chkdsk C: /R.
2. Then Post the Disk Check results following | This Tutorial.
3. Once back in Windows, download Crystal Disk Info and post a screenshot (multiple shots if you have more than one drive).
4. Download SeaTools for DOS if you don't want to use a CD to test the HDD you can use YUMI – Multiboot USB Creator to create a bootable USB (instructions are found at the bottom of both pages).
5. If SeaTools for DOS is unable to recognize your HDD:
6. Visit HDDdiag and follow the instructions | Or follow the instructions below.

If SeaTools For DOS does not recognize the drive;
Boot into the BIOS using the *Fx key.
Look for an entry called SATA Mode (or something similar), it should be set to IDE / AHCI.
It's probably set to AHCI which is why SeaTools doesn't recognize them in the DOS environment.
Set it to IDE then save and exit usually by pressing the F10 key.
Now boot into SeaTools and it should detect the drives.
Start the Long Test and let it run.
Upon completion don't try to boot into Windows as it will only result in a BSOD, go back into the BIOS
and change the SATA setting back to what it was in the first place.

Re-seat the sata and power.

I'm not pointing a fingers but nVidia's 7xx series is not have the best track record
when it to driver stability and overall performance at the moment.
What model is you motherboard?

Try a gaming session with only the generic essentials meaning no fancy peripherals or audio solutions.

Also I would like to see some screenshots of the fore-mentioned thermal tests if I may.

Let us know the results.

Sorry for the delay but my pc was to service for that reason. The technicians there did memtests and disk tests and they didnt find anything. Also the ran 3d GPU tests and are clear. So they did a clean installation of windows. After that i tried to play battlefield and the game again freezes with the same kernel-power report. Now i think that the problem is not software(due to clean installtion of windows) and the problem might be to hardware. What do you think?

Well my hardware tests suggestions did indicate it to be the general idea I had in mind.
I will post what I usually post when dealing with hardware oriented BSOD's and see if anyone else
has any other thoughts.

But before, what about:

Do you have any spare parts (or another PC) to test with?
The usual suspect of this kind of BCCode is the CPU but it's often not the the case which is why we need
to test other components to rule them out as the cause.
How old are your components?


What is the make, model and age of your PSU?
Fill out this form and post back the result:

• Power Supply Calculator

Good practice, open up the case and re-seat all types of connection.

• SATA Cables (HDD/SSD/ODD).
• SATA-Power.
• Motherboard 24-pin.
• Motherboard 4/8-pin (CPU).
• Re-seat the RAM.
• Re-seat the GPU.

Make sure that every slot / cable head is free of dust or other obstruction.
Make sure that every connection is seating properly and firmly in-place.

Also have a look at the motherboard and the GPU, search for any "bad caps", bulky, leaking bloated capacitors.

:ar: Reset the BIOS back to default:

• CLR CMOS

   Note

Write down the current value of the SATA Mode!
Its either AHCI or IDE.
After resetting the CMOS go back and verify the value for SATA Mode is what it was
when the OS was installed.

If any component is overclocked reset it back to stock speeds!

1) My motherboard model is Gigabyte B75M-D3H
2) I have no peripherals connected only the keyboard and mouse. Also i use realtek HD audio for my 5.1 speakers!
3) I have no pictures of the last diagnostic tests but the GPU temp is with furmark at max 78C and in the cpu at 75-80C with Intel Burn Test running at about 2 hours!

The stock sata mode is AHCI and i have never do overclocking unless it happens by itself.

I also ran memtest for a whole night and it was ok!
The GPU,PSU and a cpu cooler are 3 months old(upgraded) and all the other stuff 1,5 years old!

The GPU,PSU and the liquid cooler of the cpu are upgraded before 3 months and all the other components of the pc are 1,5 years old since I bought the pc.

"Old" parts are the disks(HDD,SSD), motherboard,CPU,Floppy disk,Monitor,etc! Everything else is "old" except GPU,PSU and cpu liquid cooler!

To Bradner, in addition to the above suggestions, please make it sure that the SSD, OCZ-AGILITY3 is running with the latest firmware. http://ocz.com/consumer/download/firmware

Also update the driver to your RT2870 USB ...... from MediaTek - Downloads Windows (Dated 28.09.2013).

Yesterday i was stressing my pc using Intel Burn test and Furmark at the same time(i was trying to simulate a gaming session). In less than 10 minutes the system restarted with BSOD. The temps of CPU and GPU are not exceeded 70C and 75C. So i believe that there is something wrong with the hardware and to be more specific with the PSU.

The tests are too stressful individually. Together they will crash any system I believe

What happens if you run them individually?

The PC generally crashed and restarted. When i use one diagnostic tool at a time there wasnt a crash. Only when i use them all together.

I think it is not a very good plan to run multiple stress tests together.

But, power supply is one thing that you may look for.

Also, update the SSD firmware and WiFi driver as suggested earlier.
