I am with you on this one. Never did take a liking to chrome. I use firefox exclusively. Whether or not it has these same "issues" is beyond me. But aside from that ive never had issues with it.

Chrome is fast. That's why people use it. I have no mic, so I am safe.

I use Chrome all the time but they went down yesterday for a couple hours.
Maybe they were doing a search on me and got bored to death and fell asleep while hitting the off button.

I should warn my friend about this who has about 10 pcs that almost all uses Google Chrome.

IE 11 is the smoothest browser and uses far less resources in my laptop despite being considered as the one of the slowest in the internet benchmarks. Chrome is the fastest in loading websites but only a bit though. Chrome is just my backup for stubborn websites that doesn't like IE 11 standards mode.

Stopped using Chrome

just thought I'd add that I stopped using Chrome a couple of years ago.

Reasons:

Chrome installs a unique ID with every installation and needs to be removed by the user.
Chrome installs Google Updater and it runs all the time.
Last time I used Chrome - updating never removed the old versions anyway. Maybe they've fixed this now.

If I wanted to use Chrome I'd probably choose to use SRWare Iron instead!

I suppose that all browsers have or have had vulnerabilities. The key thing is to be informed.

I wonder whether Chromium would do any better. I use that a lot in my Linux systems.

...which is what you get from here https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/ if you visit while logged on using an admin account. If you visit there as a standard user and you don't supply an admin password during the install, then you will be offered the user version install. If you install the user version, there are no scheduled tasks and no updater app always running. You can get the user version from Filehippo even if you are installing as a user:admin.

I stopped using Chrome months ago, had no need for it as IE10 has been working just like Chrome and its more secure then Chrome and it would be one less program that I need on my laptop

Off topic, a bit, which version is the most stable in Internet Explorer, 10 or 11 ?

IE 11 is as stable as a rock like IE 10 and tiny bit faster at loading websites than IE 10 as well. Although I can't really comment if IE 11 or 10 crashes less than Chrome since I only used Chrome for backups, but Chrome in general (for many people) is far more stable than IE 10, 11. Both browsers are also smooth as butter compared to Chrome in my laptop. IMO, you can use either 10 or 11 and you might not notice a difference at all. Just don't expect that it can match Chrome in speed, stability and compatibility with websites.

That is true. But the only thing I do not like is that it updates in the background.

I hate to be "this guy," but is the video's privacy concerns Google's fault? Isn't Chrome just a medium for a malicious website to listen in on a built in microphone? I mean, this could happen on Firefox or even IE too, just maybe a little harder for the hacker to listen in.

On the other hand, I can't trust a word Google says because of their size and power. I've been using Firefox with a load of privacy-conscious add ons to keep my identity anonymous.

ie10 to me is much more stable and if you do have issues developer tools is more straight forward as far as accessing and switching browser mode or document mode,
ie11 hides or has totally removed the brocken page Icon showing it's running in compatibility view/ most site hate Internet explorers comp-view mode and show the famous Update your browser popup

I've found only one is truly needed and less issue prown,
As long as you can enter safe mode with networking you really have two browsers even if one is only installed
If any real issues/ Virus..... you'll be using safe mode with networking to download scanners anyway,
