Win7 Detects i7 instead of i5

hi guys,

i have just noticed that on my DELL work PC, win7 detects that i have an i7 3540M but i am pretty sure that it's an i5, always had... i had a look in the BIOS and it detects i7 at the moment, even just upgraded BIOS to the latest from Dell's website, really weird..

i am just worried that now frequency is running really high, in fact according to CPU-z it's boosting up to 3.6Ghz, which is in fact the correct spec for that i7... ARK | Intel® Core? i7-3540M Processor (4M Cache, up to 3.70 GHz) but that's not what is on the machine...

what's the deal? cant remember doing any other BIOS update... win7 updates, sure... really odd..

What is the model of the Dell laptop you are using? You might be actually using i7.

It's a DELL Latitude E6330.... even the sticker on the chassis says i5... there is just one possibility, that is, few months ago they replaced the motherboard since some USB ports were jammed and they might have upgraded the CPU as well, LOL...otherwise doesn't make any sense...it always detected i5 before...but again, what's in the BIOS shouldn't be wrong. soooo maybe i really have it hahaha

Well, if you search the Dell site. It says that we have an option of i3, i5 or i7 even. http://i.dell.com/sites/doccontent/shared-content/data-sheets/en/Documents/dell_latitude_e6330_spec_sheet.pdf

You might be right. They might have upgraded the CPU as well. If that is true, you are lucky.

Run CPU-Z on it. See if it confirms what windows sees.
