I used to burn my data consisting of some html web pages, text files, some .VMG, .VCF, text files, conference recordings in .avi and field recordings in .3gp formats to DVD or CD. I don't know which software I used to use to do that burning job (I was a total complete novice at that time) but they are burnt fine with no corruption. I can view them even now. But after knowing some names, I used Nero, Imgburn seperately to burn them and they showed it was a successful burn. But now when I view them, it shows nothing . It shows 0 free of 700 or 4.18 but when I double click or right click and select open, it goes on and on loading and my explorer freezes :(. How can I burn that data without being corrupt? I want those files intact, I don't want any conversions for those original formats.

If the discs were burned with "packet writing" software, such as Nero's "InCD", that has known to either lose disc format and/or data. Also RW discs can also be susceptible to that. Never use this method, if you want reliability.

I use either CD-R or DVD + or -R discs only (no RW media) and Nero, Burning ROM, for all my audio and data disc burning and have never had a problem. Burning ROM has an option to verify the data after the disc is burned, I always use that option.

I use CD-R / DVD-R too. I've not figured out why my data's corrupted. I used Imgburn to write it. Can you suggest me the Correct way of burning and best burning software in your view. I ain't very tech type guy. I lost that data, after you said I've tried burning CD-R with CD Burner XP, the same :( After the burning is over, I tried to open the G: drive which's my optical drive in explorer and it stopped responding with a message reading MS Win has stopped responding.
By the way I was new to forums and had issues locating my very question. I'm late.
