Solved Upgrading Home Premium to New Computer

For how long? OEM is supposedly tied to the first mobo installed upon, cannot migrate. I wonder when they changed this.

We need to read the EULA to see if we are still quoting it correctly on this.

um, as long as I can remember....
Maybe I did it and it worked and I wasn't supposed to? *shrug*

I can't recall the exact date of the OEM copy but I'd venture to guess it's at least 3 years old. The entire process was done via pre-recorded "robot." At no time did I speak to a live person, nor did I give out any information as to anything other than the Product Key.

Regarding the statement about the speed diffs between my wife's new computer and mine, we both have SSDs. Her CPU is an A series AMD, I think a 5400 dual core ( as you can see my brain memory is shot to hell ), while mine is a stock i7-920. Her main application is MS Office - she does legal work while I'm just an old guy fooling around with Ableton Live and GTA4. Nothing serious.
