Hi all,

I am really stuck I have read everything I can find on this topic and tried all of them.

Our devices and printers console hangs and won't load at all.

Please don't mention the bluetooth services or bluetooth support services it doesn't work!

We are a domain running server 2k8R2 with all clients windows 7 32bit.

We have 300+ users.

We are having problems with just one user (will call this user1). I can log in on the same laptop with another profile(user2) and it all works fine but as soon as i log into user1 again its not working.

I have tried this with a different laptop and the same thing happens. This to me sounds like it with user1's profile but i have no idea on where to look.

Any ideas?

Have you gone through all the permissions for User 1 to see if there are any obvious omissions?

1. we have 2 main servers a data server and a domain controller.
2. roaming
3. yes we have a few mostly for printers, desktop shortcuts, proxys and permisions.
4. yes I have they have all the correct permissions.

I will also add they have administrator rights for the PC they are on as well as the folders on the data server that holds their data

1.) So no matter what computer they use, the devices and printers does not load for them?

2.) Do you have a printer server?

3.) What print drivers are in use for that user?

4.) Have you tried removing all printers and drivers and then reinstalling them on the pc via admin tools-print management? (ignore if first question is yes.)

5.) If you manually install a printer on the users profile, what happens?

6.) Have you tried to copy the users account in AD to a new test account (lets call it test), and see if the same thing appears? If so this would determine it is not a permission issue and more likely profile corruption on the server.

the issue is not the printer but accessing printers and devices in the control panel.

I suggest creating a new object in container, in the same OU as the user, and manually add the permissions from the member of tab in AD to the fresh new (non copied) test account.

If the issue still persists, it is not profile corruption. As it is not a copy but a fresh new object in the container. It is most likely permissions or messed up print drivers then in that case.

If you add the same permissions to test account that your user account has, and then it works, it is defiantly permissions. However, if even after having your access it fails: It is something wrong with the drivers on the print server.

If you delete all printers and drivers from your machine, and install the printers and drivers from your print server and restart, what happens? Does devices and printers function?

When did this start happening for the user?

Since the account was created?

When did the problem start?

If all else fails, I suggest deleting the AD account and starting over.

ok I will try that.

It happened about 1 and 1/2 years after it was created about 3 months ago

I think you missed this part:

Have you tried removing all printers and drivers and then reinstalling them on the pc via admin tools-print management?

Click :orb: type admin tools in the search. Click administrative tools at the top result. Double click print management.
On the left side, click print servers local. Right click the drivers and printers and Delete the printers and drivers under the associated tabs from there.

If you get error messages, let me know.
