Those of you who have been married a while will understand, but I acted rashly without thinking and now find myself needing to reload MS Int Explorer 11 on my desktop PC in order to stay married. I had replaced it with Firefox 29, but that caused all sorts of problems for my wife when she works from home, telecommuting. So I deleted FF29, and when I realized I needed it to download a loader for MSIE, I reinstalled FF29, but it doesn't work because it can't load XPCOM.

Let's forget FF29. I used my laptop (which I'm typing on now) to download an installer for MSIE 11, used a thumb drive to transfer it to my PC, but when run the installer, it stops and says there's a later version of it on my PC. It's not listed in Control Panel/Uninstall, so I found Internet Explorer in Program Files and tried to delete that, but that didn't work.

Please, help me save my marriage!!!

The original reason I got rid of MSIE was because I was told that it was the reason I couldn't watch videos from Kim Komando and various other sources. A web page would appear, but no black screen where the video would show up. YouTube worked fine, but hardly anything else. So, going back to MSIE will probably give me that problem again. If so, I'll return for more help.

Thanks in advance,

K3yP1ayer

Already tried that. Didn't work.

I had 3 restore points to choose from. The oldest was from 2011 and would have wiped out most of my system. The other 2 were both created in the last month. I chose the most recent but it didn't help. I checked out what files the other would affect and neither of the browsers would have been touched.

Thanks for your thoughts on this, though.

In programs/features click on View Installed updates. Scroll through until you find IE. Click and uninstall. Restart the computer then go back into Programs/Features and look for IE in the installed updates. Might show IE 10. Keep going until they are gone. Restart the computer then go back into Programs/Features and click on turn windows features on or off. Uncheck Internet Explorer. Restart and then go back and put the check mark back in. You should actually be back to 8. Run your updates. Should take care of it.

Just an fyi,
You can have more than 1 browser on the system.
I always have 2-3 browsers, usually Pale Moon, Firefox, and always IE as it's built into Windows 7.
That way you can use a different browser for different sites, or to test with a different browser if you have issues.

 How did you pull that off?! I can never get a restore point more than two or three days old!

Solved How can I install MS IE 11 over MSIE 11.09

Just wanted to thank y'all very much for your assistance. I found out where I could remove MSIE one update at a time and put it back to Version 10. Then running the update to 11 was done without a hitch.

My wife is smiling once again. {Major chord on Hammond B3 with Leslies on full!}

There are still a couple of other problems, but I will address those separately.

Warmest regards to all,

K3yP1ayer

:)
